Building stronger communities through participatory learning. 🌱

Today, DAK Achana FFS held a productive session with our farmers on Participatory Training Development, focusing on involving farmers in identifying their learning needs, sharing experiences, and developing practical solutions together. When farmers actively participate in the learning process, knowledge becomes more relevant, ownership increases, and sustainable agricultural practices are strengthened.

Together, we learn, grow, and transform our communities. 🌾🤝

The training of the day was on School Infrastructure Assessment and re-emphasized the need to gather quality data.

We discussed the features of good data - accuracy, completeness, consistency, timeliness, objectivity. Respecting all respondents, doing no harm, privacy and confidentiality and informed consent and voluntary participation were also discussed as key areas of ethical data collection practices.

Lastly, we developed our interviewing skills and how to build rapport, ask questions as stated, steering clear of leading questions, and actively listen.

Professional conduct and ethical practices are the beginning of quality data. All answers are valued and all voices are respected.

Poor infrastructure, not collecting data properly and having it of bad quality, and lack of capacity building are all issues that need to be addressed in order to ensure that learning never stops.

Today's training session was both insightful and impactful. We explored the key differences between Area Development Programs (ADP) and Community Integrated Development Programs (CIDP), while also discussing what truly constitutes success in a development program. Key elements highlighted included effective work planning, sustainability, inclusivity, stakeholder participation, accountability, and long-term community impact. Continuous learning like this strengthens our capacity to design and implement programs that create meaningful and lasting change in our communities.

🚨 COMMUNITY APPEAL – MKOMANI WARD 🚨

Did you know that some patients seeking treatment at King Fahad Hospital are being transported using mikokoteni because there is no reliable 24-hour transport to and from the ferry crossing?

The community is not asking for much—only that the tuk-tuk service or other means meant to transport patients be made available and operational 24 hours a day. Access to healthcare should never depend on the time of day.

We respectfully appeal to our leaders to address this matter for the well-being of the people of Mkomani Ward.
