Sink task for Sifa
Read and watch the video: https://www.childrenofwatamu.org/sink-task-for-sifa/

Sifa was one of thew first children to come to Happy House when we opened in 2010 and the eldest of three siblings.

He was always a quiet, well mannered boy and very caring to his brother John and sister, Karembo. He like helping in the garden and around the house, and a progression on to our team was just right for him when he came to the end of his schooling.

He has been trained by our staff and is now well able to handle many maintenance tasks including fixing our kitchen sink.

It's made of concrete which has been tiled, but over time the tiles have broken and both they and thew taps need an overhaul. Sifa is on the case and will soon get ir done!

At Happy House, we love celebrating the hard work and determination of our young people, and today we are thrilled to shine a spotlight on Emmanuel Hayward for his progress in maths.

Emmanuel recently shared the exciting news that he improved his maths test score from 40% to an impressive 73%.

This is a huge achievement and a wonderful example of what can happen when dedication, perseverance, and confidence come together. Improving by 33 percentage points is no small feat. It reflects the effort Emmanuel has put into his studies, his willingness to keep learning, and his determination not to give up.

Success in education is about growth, resilience, and believing in yourself. Emmanuel has shown all of these qualities brilliantly.

Everyone at Happy House is extremely proud of him. Achievements like this inspire others to keep working hard and remind us that progress is always possible with commitment and support.

Well done, Emmanuel! Keep aiming high!

Reuben’s journey of love and care
Read and watch the video: https://www.childrenofwatamu.org/reubens-journey-of-love-and-care/

At Children of Watamu, every child is valued, supported, and surrounded by a community that cares deeply for them. Reuben is a wonderful reminder of the strength that comes from love, patience, and togetherness.

Reuben has cerebral palsy and attends therapy sessions twice every week at Malindi Sub-County Hospital. These sessions are an important part of his development and wellbeing, and we are happy to share that Reuben is doing well.

The children of the Watamu family understand that Reuben is a very special brother. They continue to show kindness, compassion, and dedication by helping to make sure he eats well, feels included, and grows up surrounded by love and encouragement, just like every child deserves.

It is beautiful to see how the children support one another as a family. Their care and acceptance create an environment where every child can feel safe, valued, and happy.

We would also like to thank everybody who gives their time, energy, and support to help make sure the children are happy and loved every single day. Whether through care, therapy support, meals, encouragement, or friendship, every act of kindness makes a difference in the lives of these children.

Reuben’s progress is a joy to witness, and we look forward to continuing this journey together with hope, love, and determination.

While the children are at school, Happy House is still full of life and work. Meals are prepared, floors cleaned, accounts managed, gardens cared for, supplies collected, repairs completed, and babies comforted and looked after with love.

Behind every smiling child is a team quietly making everything possible each day. The care, patience and commitment of our staff helps Happy House remain a real family home, not just a building.

These are our aunties and uncles who are not always in front of the camera, but who make every single day possible for the children living here at Happy House in Watamu.

The support and donations we receive make all of this possible, helping us provide stable employment for a dedicated Kenyan team who care for our children with love and commitment every day.

Thank you, Charo

Charo our joiner has been hard at work in the dining hall repairing and improving the tables and benches for the children.

A few weeks ago, the children helped to check the furniture and identify the areas that needed attention. While some of the tables and benches were still in good condition, others needed proper repairs and maintenance to make sure they remain safe, strong, and comfortable for everyday use.

We are very grateful to Charo for taking the time and care to complete this important work. Jobs like these may happen quietly behind the scenes, but they make a huge difference to the daily lives of the children and help keep Happy House running smoothly.

At Happy House, everyone plays an important role, and Charo is truly an important member of our family. His hard work, dedication, and willingness to help wherever needed are deeply appreciated by both the children and staff.

Thank you, Charo, for everything you do for the Happy House family!

Now Thomas is teaching us four, five, six!

And the answer is… David Hayward

David turns 16 this year and he truly is our miracle.

When he was younger, the doctors told Mama Sue to take him home, love him, and make him comfortable, as they believed nothing more could be done. But Mama Sue, the aunties, and the children never gave up. Together, with your help, they supported him every day with physiotherapy and care inside the home.

Today, David is full of life. He loves dancing, going to the beach, and bringing energy and laughter wherever he goes. He is a real ray of light in our home.

Once a Happy House child, always part of our family ❤️

The chores are done, beds are made and the children can finally enjoy some well-earned downtime together in the computer room.

Some of the children spend time on the Squirrel financial literacy platform, learning about budgeting, bills, and saving money through fun weekly activities. Others simply enjoy relaxing, playing games and just being children.

To keep things fair and healthy, we use a voucher system which gives each child a timed session on the laptops. It helps everyone get a turn while making sure screen time stays balanced.

We are grateful to everyone who has donated devices to the Happy House, helping the children access online learning, research, and moments of fun too.

A special thank you also to our trustee Lewis for setting up online safety filters for the internet, and to our volunteer James for delivering digital safety sessions to help keep the children safe online.
