Drought Care Alliance was honored to be invited and to take part in Youth SDGs Week by & Kenya Coalition on Youth, Peace and Security , a powerful 5-day convening that brought together young leaders from across Kenya to engage, learn, and collaborate on advancing the Sustainable Development Goals. We were represented by Hani Abdikadir during the event.
Representing Wajir, we joined fellow youth in meaningful dialogue on how youth-led solutions are not just important but essential in translating the SDGs from global commitments into lived realities within our communities. Our discussions centered on key priority areas including SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation – WASH), SDG 5 (Gender Equality), SDG 13 (Climate Action), and SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions), all deeply interconnected pillars for sustainable and inclusive development.
We were privileged to have the event presided over by the Principal Secretary for Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports, who reaffirmed the government’s commitment to empowering young people as drivers of national transformation.
Throughout the week, we engaged in illuminating panel discussions and interactive sessions that highlighted the power of youth-led partnerships, innovation, and grassroots action. These conversations reinforced the critical role young people play in shaping resilient, peaceful, and sustainable futures.
Beyond the sessions, we built meaningful connections with changemakers from across the country, exchanged ideas, and strengthened networks that will continue to support collaborative impact long after the event.
DCA was honored to be a part of such an amazing initiative.
