Aisha, the rescued ostrich from Ademasajida, Wajir West Constituency, Wajir County, has finally been taken by the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) after spending more than a year under the care of Mama Abdia Ali Ibrahim and her family.
The family rescued Aisha during a difficult drought period when she needed help. They provided her with food, protection, and care, helping her grow from a young bird into a healthy adult ostrich.
For Mama Abdia, Aisha became more than just a wild animal , she became part of the family. The bond they built made the moment of handing her over an emotional one.
Now under KWS care, Aisha will have the chance to live in a suitable environment, interact with other ostriches, and continue her natural journey.
This heartwarming story shows the important role local communities play in protecting and conserving Kenyaβs wildlife.
