School Immersion earlier this week with friends & partners of Elimu Fanaka provided a chance to see the work done and gaps in each of our 10 partner schools.

We believe books are more than pages and stories—they are tools that help children imagine bigger possibilities for their lives.

Because when children can read, learn, and explore new ideas, they are better equipped to build brighter futures for themselves through education.

That’s why campaign exists under our Nawiri Program which means “to thrive”. Working alongside our partner schools, we create spaces where books are accessible, reading is encouraged, and every child has the opportunity to learn, dream, and thrive.

Here’s how we Jenga Library & we invite you be part of our campaign.

September is here!💃🏾 Schools are already open and we’re moving closer to International Literacy Day.

As we look back at 5 years of our campaign, we continue to champion for reading and want to invite you to join us in building a generation of readers. We can make a difference by donating:

• a book - KES 600
• a reader- KES 3000
• a shelf- KES 22,500
• a section- KES 100,000

Or even better adopt a school by gathering 10 of your friends to donate 22,500/= (how cool is that)

Stories have a way of bringing us together. Wangari The Storyteller will be joining us as we celebrate the power of stories, reading and imagination and the role they play in shaping how learners see themselves and the world around them.

Ready to listen, learn, laugh and of course share stories.

This , we’re thinking about the young learners in the 10 rural public primary schools we partner with in Taita Taveta, and the opportunities we want them to have.

A young person can fully take advantage of a world of information if they have first had the opportunity to learn how to read, understand, question, and use it.

At Elimu Fanaka, we see literacy as more than a school outcome. It is part of the foundation for participation, opportunity, and agency.

What do we need to put in place so that every young person can turn access into opportunity?
For the young learners we serve in rural Taita Taveta, that foundation matters.

This International Youth Day, we celebrate their potential and our collective responsibility to ensure they have the opportunity to realize it.

Imagine trying to prepare children for a digital world in a school without electricity.

That was the reality for one of our partner schools for 35 years.

Today, the classrooms tell a different story.
Powered by solar energy, equipped with laptops, and connected through Starlink internet, the school is embracing new possibilities for teaching and learning.

This is what partnership looks like. It doesn't just provide resources it removes barriers, expands opportunities, and gives learners the chance to dream beyond what was once possible.

Elimu Fanaka had the pleasure of welcoming partners from Our Future Prize as they visited some of our partner schools to witness the impact of our work firsthand.

A highlight of the visit was the installation of Starlink internet, powered by SpaceX bringing reliable connectivity to our 3 partner schools and opening the door to endless learning opportunities for both educators and learners.

We're grateful to Our Future Prize for their partnership and shared belief that every learner deserves access to the tools they need to thrive.

06/07/2026

As we count down to International Literacy Day on September 8, Elimu Fanaka is on a mission to set up a library and distribute 15,000 books to 10 schools in Taita Taveta.

A single book can spark a lifelong love of reading. Your support can help make that possible for thousands of children.

If you’d like to be part of this journey, you can donate via M-Pesa or PayPal. Every gift 🎁, big or small, brings them one step closer to putting more books into children’s hands.

Thank you for helping build a future where every child has the opportunity to read, learn, and thrive. 📖
