🌱 *Planting Hope in Chehe Forest* 🌱

Today we joined PCEA Kirimara Presbytery for a tree planting exercise in Chehe Forest, Iriaini Ward.

This was made possible through the kind invitation of Arthur Thoithi, founder of Arthur Foundation. It was great to stand alongside fellow partners Taifa Sacco, MAWASCO, Njeri Mazingira Initiatives, and many other community members who turned up for our environment.

Every seedling in the ground is an investment in cleaner air, protected water sources, and a greener future for Iriaini. Thank you to PCEA Kirimara Presbytery and Arthur Foundation for leading this innitiative.

Big shoutout to everyone who joined Go Green Hub and Njeri Mazingira Initiatives on our 30km walk from Nyeri town to Gura river in Othaya! We celebrated International Day of Forests in style, highlighting the vital role forests play in protecting our water catchment areas.

We're proud to have participated in the Town Clean-up at Naromoru organised by Arsen's Cleaning Services! Together with the community, we rolled up our sleeves, planted trees, and spread the word on conservation. Yesterday, we had the privilege of joining officials from seven Widows and Widowers Self-Help Groups in Thegu River Ward for an induction meeting alongside key stakeholders.
The session focused on strengthening their capacity through discussions on:Financial literacySHG financing mechanismsIncome-generating activities Kitchen garden training The Wezesha Initiative by the County Government of Nyeri (Department of Gender, Youth, Sports & Social Services)SHG strengthening and capacity building
Environmental sustainabilityMental health awarenessGender-Based Violence (GBV) prevention

As key gatekeepers in the community, widows and widowers serve as the eyes, ears, and pillars of resilience at the grassroots level. Empowering them and strengthening their self-help groups is not only a matter of social justice but a strategic pathway toward achieving Sustainable Development Goal 5 – Gender Equality.

When we invest in their knowledge, economic empowerment, and mental well-being, we uplift entire communities.

Day 3 and the final lap of ACS2 here in Addis Ababa 🇪🇹… and trust me, it ended on a high note! 💯
Kenya officially launched its NDC today (big win ) and our very own reps Consolata King'ori and Fidelis Kanene were right there making moves, building connections and leaving their mark.

From networks to memories, these two made sure Nyeri was well represented. ACS2 has been real – now we wait for the partnerships and ideas that will come out of it. 🔥🙌
