During World Hygiene Day, Ujamii Health proudly joined the County Health Department in a colorful event uniting schools and corporates to spotlight menstrual hygiene and through our CEO Omondi Isaac Obiero , we emphasized the role of men and school leadership in ensuring access to safe, dignified menstrual care.

This aligns with our REACH Campaign empowering 2,025+ youth with SRHR knowledge—and The GoodPlan, mental health program using IPT-G to support girls silently struggling with period poverty and emotional distress.

Let’s break taboos and build dignity—period. 🩸💪🏽

Adolescents and young people are not just tomorrow’s hope — they are today’s priority! ✨

This week, Ujamii Health joined the Adolescent Technical Working Group (ATWG) meeting in Kiambu County alongside county officials, NGOs, and youth leaders to finalize and roll out the Adolescent and Young People (AYP) Strategy

This strategy is a powerful step towards accelerating our goal — to engage at least 2,025 young people with life-saving knowledge and services addressing the Triple Threat

✅ HIV
✅ Gender-Based Violence (GBV)
✅ Unplanned Pregnancies

Youth voices are central to the process — because nothing for them should be done without them.
Their leadership is shaping:

1️⃣ Youth-friendly and inclusive health services
2️⃣ Stronger social and economic support systems
3️⃣ Safer spaces to report and recover from violence
4️⃣ Coordinated county action to end the triple threat

At Ujamii Health, we remain committed to ensuring that every young person in Kiambu thrives — in body, mind, and spirit. 🌱❤️

Feel free to engage with us. [email protected] || 0705878040

LIGHTING THE NIGHT WITH REACH ✨🌙🌙

Weekend Moonlight Engagement: Strengthening REACH Efforts.

✓As part of our ongoing REACH initiative, we conducted a moonlight testing and engagement exercise on the night of April 26th to assess the response and participation of key populations in conversations around ending the Triple Threat (HIV, gender-based violence, and unplanned pregnancies).

✓During the activity, we successfully engaged 50 female s*x workers (FSWs), emphasizing the importance of frequent HIV testing and providing free HIV self-test kits.
✓ In addition, we distributed 720 male condoms to support safer practices.
✓Our innovative approach — including the provision of free coffee — helped attract additional attendees, ultimately boosting our overall reach by approximately 83 (plus our previous reach 1379 will makes our total reach overall to 1462) individuals beyond our target.

✓As we continue our efforts to directly engage young people and key populations with life-saving knowledge and resources, we welcome partnerships and support from individuals and organizations whose passion and vision align with this mission to enable our dream of Reaching 2025 by end June)

✓We are inspired to accelerate progress toward ending the Triple Threat.

REACH 2025 | Men’s Involvement Outreach – April 17th, 2025.(Kamenu ward, Thika sub county, Kiambu, Kenya)

~Happy to share a brief update from our latest community outreach session held on April 17th in Makongeni phase 4. Under the theme "AWAKE!” (Ephesians 5:14),

~we convened a men's empowerment, sensitization and engagement Forum focusing on Gender-Based Violence (GBV)
and it's co-implications including HIV new infections and Mental health challenges.

~This session created a rare space for men to engage in open, honest conversations around their role in ending GBV, promoting wellness, and shaping safer communities.

~It was encouraging to see strong contributions from community partners like Mr. Dungu (NEPHAK) and Madam Regina (ICWK) — true champions of this cause.

~We’re excited to report that this engagement pushed our total direct reach to 1,379 individuals since the REACH 2025 campaign launched on March 4th. We’re well on track to surpass our target of 2,025 people by the end of June

~This milestone is a collective win — and we’re grateful for the continued support from the Directorate of Public Health and Sanitation especially under the leadership of Madam Terresia.

~Looking forward to exploring more collaborations as we scale this momentum.

📢 REACH Peer Advocacy Update – Day 3! 🚀

We're making strides in our mission to with lifesaving knowledge on the Triple Threat (HIV, GBV & unplanned pregnancies)!

So far:

✅ 311 Young People reached directly (and many more online!)

✅ 576 Male Condoms & 33 Female Condoms distributed

✅ Growing peer engagement & awareness

However, challenges remain:
⚠️ Limited IEC materials & commodities (including condoms)

⚠️ Access to colleges is restricted—support from the Ministry of Education would help us expand our impact.

📅 What’s next? We’re gearing up for a Student Health Summit on March 18 —a key opportunity to bring together partners in GBV, HIV & SRHR for greater impact!

We call upon stakeholders & partners to collaborate in maximizing this initiative.

Let's push forward together! Department of Health Services - Kiambu County NSDCC Omondi Isaac Obiero
