HAPPY WORLD MENTAL HEALTH DAYπŸ’šπŸ’šπŸ§ πŸ§

Today, on World Mental Health Day, we rally around the theme
"Our minds, our rights."

Let's remember that mental health is a universal human right, not just a privilege. It is our right to good and available/accessible mental health care and the freedom to be part of our communities.

1 in 8 people worldwide faces mental health challenges, impacting their well-being and connections, especially among young individuals.

No one should lose their human rights due to mental health conditions. Let's unite to end discrimination, ensure quality care, and protect these essential rights.

Join the World Mental Health Day 2023 campaign to learn about your right to mental
health and how to support others. Together, we champion mental well-being. πŸ’šπŸ§

Reflecting on an inspiring day at Mangu High School, where we came together to shine a light on mental health. Through psychodrama skits and heartfelt one-on-one sessions, we fostered understanding, compassion, and connection. 🌟 It's moments like these that remind us of the power of mentorship and support in nurturing strong minds. Let's keep breaking the silence & end the stigma surrounding mental health. πŸ’š

Our country, Kenya, still has a long way to go despite the efforts being made to create awareness on mental health. It is still sad that su***de attempts remain criminalized in our country with a penalties of 2 years imprisonment or a fine or both. Instead, more emphasis should be made on ending stigma around mental health and offering appropriate solutions such as access to affordable mental health care services. We also need more focus on provision of data on day-to-day mental health statistics so that necessary accurate research is done and appropriate solutions are offered.

Tomorrow is the beginning of a new month of September & here at Kijana Jasiri Foundation, we regard it as a special month where we mark the su***de prevention awareness month.

In actual sense, this awareness campaign does not entirely focus on preventing someone from dying by su***de but also creates a society that prioritizes mental well-being and is equipped to offer help when it's needed.πŸ’š

Our mission at Kijana Jasiri Foundation is to end the stigma surrounding mental health and this month we are focusing on collective compassion, responsibility, and taking proactive measures to ensure the safety and well-being of all members of society.
Stay tuned for more information on the same & feel free to be part of our online communityπŸ’š
