Kinesiology tape (K-tape) is sometimes used to help manage drooling, especially in children or adults with neurological or muscle-control conditions. The tape is applied around the cheeks, lips, or jaw by a trained therapist to give gentle sensory and muscle support.
Possible benefits include:
Improved lip closure – The tape may help remind or support the muscles around the mouth to stay closed better.
Better awareness of saliva – The light pull of the tape can increase sensory feedback, helping the person notice saliva earlier and swallow more often.
Encourages swallowing – Some people swallow more frequently when taped.
Can support speech and feeding therapy – Often used together with oral-motor exercises from a speech or occupational therapist.

It helps correct toe-walking by encouraging heel-to-toe movement. It also helps stretch tight calves and strengthen the shin muscles, which corrects habitual toe-walking.

At the same time, it helps improve core stability, motor planning, and cognitive focus through increased sensory input.

This approach encourages a child to explore movement naturally, helping build strength, coordination, and independence at their own pace.
It is most effective when a child has already developed some foundational skills—like emerging trunk control and the ability to bear some weight. From there, these movements help them grow and refine their motor skills in a safe, supported way.
Every child develops differently, so it’s important to match activities to their current level and seek guidance from a trained professional when needed.

Exercises like squats, supported standing, and play-based activities help children feel comfortable bearing weight on their legs. Sensory Integration Activities – Some children with delayed walking have poor body awareness.

We continue to take small steps toward improving our Centre. Recently, the roofing of the multipurpose hall has been completed — an important milestone for a space that will serve our children and youth, especially those with intellectual disabilities.

This hall will provide a safe and inclusive environment for learning, training, therapy, interraction and community activities regardless of weather conditions. There is still work ahead before it is fully complete and operational. But we are hopeful Divine Providence will open the way.

We are grateful to everyone who continues to walk this journey with us.

The slide is more than just play 💛

For this child, it helps build confidence, body coordination, and courage to try new experiences. Even with tears, he keeps trying—and that’s where growth begins.
With patient guidance from our teachers, every moment becomes a step toward independence and social
interaction.

We are deeply grateful to the children of PMC Gatanga Catholic Deanery for their thoughtful and impactful donation to our learning centre. 🙏

Thanks to their generosity, we have installed classroom screens today that will greatly transform how our children learn and grow.

Through carefully selected educational videos and guided support from our teachers, our children will be able to: • Learn step-by-step daily routines

• Improve speech and communication
• Build attention and listening skills
• Practice social behaviors like sharing and greeting
• Gain independence in self-care

Your kindness will make a real and lasting difference in the lives of children with disabilities, giving them better opportunities to learn, grow, and thrive.
Thank you Gatanga PMC children, for standing with us and believing in our mission. 💙

Swinging has a calming effect that can help with emotional regulation, focus, and relaxation. A swing is much more than just play—it supports a child’s overall development in powerful ways. The gentle back-and-forth motion helps improve balance, coordination, and body awareness, while also supporting sensory processing, especially for children who may be fearful or sensitive to movement.

At the same time, swinging has a calming effect that can help with emotional regulation, focus, and relaxation. As children gradually become more comfortable, it builds their confidence and teaches them to overcome fear in a safe and supportive environment, all while strengthening their muscles and encouraging interaction with others.
