Kinesiology tape (K-tape) is sometimes used to help manage drooling, especially in children or adults with neurological or muscle-control conditions. The tape is applied around the cheeks, lips, or jaw by a trained therapist to give gentle sensory and muscle support.
Possible benefits include:
Improved lip closure – The tape may help remind or support the muscles around the mouth to stay closed better.
Better awareness of saliva – The light pull of the tape can increase sensory feedback, helping the person notice saliva earlier and swallow more often.
Encourages swallowing – Some people swallow more frequently when taped.
Can support speech and feeding therapy – Often used together with oral-motor exercises from a speech or occupational therapist.
