As we close the 16 Days of Activism against GBV, we at SEP ask one thing:
What have you done to protect someone’s daughter, sister, brother, or friend?
GBV doesn’t end in 16 days — it ends when we choose courage every day.
Let’s keep speaking, keep caring, keep fighting.
For safer homes. For safer schools. For our communities.
Don’t stop now. Let everyone know: GBV has no place among us.

This week, during the launch of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, our Executive Director, Ephy Oyugi, had the honour of speaking at a SHOFCO event dedicated to championing the fight against Gender-Based Violence.
Her voice added strength to a national call for safety, dignity, and justice for all. Together, we continue to stand firm, raise awareness, and push for a future free from violence.

This month, SEP, in collaboration with the STEEP team from Siaya under the CAPYEI Organisation, delivered a truly powerful and transformative Empowerment Training for girls. This initiative was more than a session — it became a safe, inspiring space where young women elevated their communication skills, embraced a courageous and growth-driven attitude, and deepened their understanding of gender equality.
Together, we are igniting unshakable confidence, opening new possibilities, and nurturing a generation of bold, empowered girls who are ready to lead, influence, and drive lasting change within their communities.

🌟 The Five Pillars of SEP (Siaya Education Project) 🌟

At SEP, we believe education goes beyond the classroom. That’s why our programs are built on 5 strong pillars that empower young people to thrive:

📚 Academic Development – Supporting students to excel in school through mentorship, learning resources, and academic guidance.

🛠️ Skills Acquisition – Training youth in practical skills like ICT, art, agriculture, and technical trades to prepare them for self-reliance.

💡 Entrepreneurship – Nurturing creativity and innovation so that young people become job creators and not just job seekers.

🤝 Community Service – Inspiring youth to give back through volunteer work, leadership, and service projects that uplift society.

🌍 Cross-Cutting Issues – Addressing crucial areas such as sexual & reproductive health, emotional and psychological support, and environmental conservation for holistic growth.

✨ Together, these pillars form the foundation for empowered youth, stronger communities, and a brighter future for all.

One of the pillars of SEP is Cross-Cutting Issues (Sexual Reproductive Health, Emotional Support, and Environmental Conservation):
This pillar focuses on equipping young people with knowledge and values that go beyond academics. It empowers them to make informed choices about their health, build emotional resilience, and take responsibility for protecting the environment. By teaching youth how to care for themselves, one another, and the world around them, SEP nurtures a generation that is socially responsible, emotionally balanced, and committed to a sustainable future.
