The Green Heroes CBO Chairman,Mr. Mourice Owich was in Sirodha Primary School on Friday 8th May,2026 doing what he loves most, preaching the Climate Action gospel in an effort to enhance Climate Change awareness among the School going Students.

GREN HEROES CBO ACCELERATING CLIMATE CHANGE EDUCATION(CCE) IN SCHOOLS.
Green Heroes CBO Chairman,Mr.Mourice Owich during his visit to Sirodha Junior Secondary School,a Public School located in Gem Wagai Sub-County,Siaya County,Kenya;he had one Mission of sharing Climate Change information with the Students for resilience.
Spreading the Climate Change knowledge to the youths in learning Institutions is essential in stimulating the Climate Action enthusiasm among the youths at a tender age which subsequently enhances their active involvement in Climate Action Initiatives hence making it possible to effectively build resilience and achieve green growth aspirations.
It is important for Governments to consider incorporating Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs)within the School Curriculum for the youths to start interacting with the realities of Climate Change early enough for effective coping and adaptation measures.

PROMOTING YOUTH ENVIRONMENT AMBASSADORS
Planting Trees is our hobby and Biodiversity Conservation is our Mission in Green Heroes CBO.
Today Tuesday 5th May,2026 our Chairperson,Mr.Mourice Owich was in Mwer Junior Secondary School where he engaged with the Students and Teaching Staff in Biodiversity Conservation awareness discussion before eventually planting Trees within the School compound.
A total of 100 Tree Seedlings were planted,courtesy of the support given to Uhongo Durie Self Help Group,an affiliate of Green Heroes CBO towards the continuous Tree Planting exercise to improve on the Tree cover in Siaya County by Kenya Commercial Bank(KCB) Siaya Branch.

Did you know that apart from banana fruit which provides a staple food source,the treasure is hidden within the banana plant Leaves,Stem and Fibre which are largely considered as Waste?
Using modern technology banana stem is being transformed to decorative household items and artisanal products including but not limited to durable bags,baskets,plate mates etc hence driving the growth of Green Enterprises.

THE CLIMATE CHANGE ASPECT IN BANANA PLANT.
Besides the direct Monetary benefits,bananas play a pivotal role in Climate Change adaptation.
Bananas are non-seasonal thus allowing them to bridge food gaps between other Crops harvests which is important for household nutrition and food security.They provide ecological benefits that helps farming systems withstand Climate Change shocks.
Intercropping bananas with other selected Crops is a highly effective adaptation strategy as it increases farmer income,improves resilience and can increase Carbon storage compared to mono-cropping systems.
Banana Leaves act as natural drain pipes,directing rain water towards the base of the Plant hence supporting in optimal water management.Banana plants have dense,fibrous root systems which help stabilize the soil and prevent degradation of agricultural land during extreme heavy rains,especially on slopped terrain.
Banana plant stem and fibres can also be transformed into absorbent sanitary pads.

Spending time among Trees and Forests provide avenues for Psychosocial therapy by enhancing mental restoration and mood.
Nature-based therapies lowers Cortisol levels and blood pressure,improves concentration and offers a sensory experience that calms the nervous system.

WHEN THE GLOBAL CONFLICTS BECOME A CLIMATE CHANGE RISK & AN IMPEDIMENT TO SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

The combined assault of Iran by American and Israeli forces using heavy artillery is a silent Climate Change risk which the Biodiversity Conservation Ambassadors collectively with the Sustainable Development Goals Champions should not turn a blind Eye away from.
Military operations in War Zones constitute massive greenhouse gas emissions(approximately 5.5%) from fuel combustion,explosive detonations and widespread destruction of Carbon Sinks thus escalating global warming. Attacks on the critical infrastructure such as Oil refineries,gas facilities and industrial sites release pollutants while post-conflict reconstruction requires colossal volume of materials,some of which are highly Carbon-intessive hence further increasing global emissions.
Armed conflicts often lead to long-term ecosystem degradation which impairs the ability of nature to absorb future emissions.
# Let's stop unnecessary conflicts.
