🌅 Solstice of Hope 2025 An Evening of Courage, Connection & Compassion 🌅

On 27th September 2025, the Lending Hands Initiative family gathered at Ka'Baba Resort, Siaya, for a beautiful evening that brought together caregivers, warriors, partners, and friends. 💞

The Solstice of Hope was more than just a fundraiser it was a powerful evening of learning, reflection, and celebration. Together, we:
✨ Learned more about Sickle Cell Disease, its challenges, and the strength it takes to live with it.
💬 Heard moving stories of resilience from warriors and caregivers.
🕯️ Held a heartfelt candle lighting ceremony to honor and remember our fallen warriors whose courage continues to inspire us.
🎶 Danced, shared laughter, and connected through art and music.
🍰 Closed the evening with a warm cake-cutting ceremony, tea, snacks, and a joyful photo session a reminder of hope, unity, and the power of community.

We extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who stood with us your love, presence, and support keep the light of hope burning bright for all sickle cell warriors. ❤️

Sicklecell awareness month might have come to an end,but our community awareness will still continue .We are taking a moment to reflect on the great partnership we've had in the past month and years with the Siaya settelite blood bank .Last month we visited the Siaya National Polytechnic to create awareness on Sicklecell and conduct blood drive .With 14,000 children being born annually with sicklecell,we cannot afford to remain silent.We must priorities screening not only for newborns but also adolescents and youths to identify carriers and empower youths to make informed decisions and healthy choices for a better living.We all have a role to play in breaking the cycle of sicklecell .

Join us this afternoon at Sega Vocational as we donate blood.Blood is a lifeline to many sicklecell warriors including prevention of stroke and early mortality from severe anemia either due to malaria or other factors by donating blood you not only save a sicklecell warrior but every other person in need of blood by giving them a chance at life.
