Introductory workshop under schools2030 project, convened at sapphire hotel Mombasa:
Purpose: A research study to strengthen tools and guidance to support teachers in ensuring learning environments are inclusive for children with Disabilities.
We represented Organizations of Persons with Disabilities (OPD's) at the forum whose objective was for stakeholders to agree on various aspects of the project in order to set the pace for maximum results.
Key takeaways:
Evidence based mitigation was viewed to be the most preferable bridge to real, gainful and meaningful inclusion of Children with Disabilities in matters access to preprimary education in order to lay down a strong foundation for their future.
Partners appreciated the fact that going forward to the future, deliberate actions needed to be put in place so as to enhance participation of OPD's in similar and any other related initiatives.
Big thanks to Jacob Foundation as the main project donor;
Kudos to Aga Khan Foundation as the project lead partner supported by Sightsavers in collaboration with Kenya Institute of Special Education (KISE), United Disabled Persons of Kenya (UDPK) among other partners.
