At L'Arche Kenya, we recognize that every person has unique gifts and abilities that enrich our community in meaningful ways.

For individuals with intellectual disabilities, occupational therapy strategies are most effective when they build on strengths, encourage participation, and promote independence. Through our professional housekeeping program, we have created a supportive routine that empowers our core members to develop practical skills while taking pride in their environment.

Each day, our housekeeping team works together to clean, dust, and organize our compound with dedication and care. Every member contributes according to their abilities, recognizing both their strengths and areas where support may be needed. By dividing responsibilities and collaborating as a team, they ensure that our living spaces remain welcoming, organized, and beautiful.

Their hard work is reflected in sparkling windows, clean pathways, tidy surroundings, and a well-maintained compound. More importantly, this daily routine nurtures confidence, responsibility, teamwork, and a sense of ownership.
Through these meaningful contributions, our core members take pride in their homes and community, strengthening their independence and creating a positive environment for everyone.

Today, we celebrate the gift of responsibility, teamwork, and determination that shines through their work every day.

At L’Arche Kenya, we believe that ability comes in many forms. People with intellectual disabilities are creative, talented, and capable of expressing themselves in countless beautiful ways.
Through our creative and craft workshop, core members share their thoughts, feelings, imagination, and experiences with others. This week, they made beautiful bookmarks that were shared within the community each piece reflecting originality, patience, resilience, and determination.
In nurturing these skills, we see confidence and independence grow. Practicing creativity builds pride and appreciation, reminding us that while some may not read or write, they can still shine through art. Creativity is a gift that can be nurtured, shared, and celebrated by everyone.
When given the opportunity, persons with intellectual disabilities reveal talents that bring joy to others and enrich our shared humanity. Together, we celebrate the gift of creativity and the many ways it uplifts our community.

At L’Arche Kenya, collaboration is more than partnership it is a commitment to ensure that no child is left behind. Together with Kids Kijabe, we identify children born with spina bifida and hydrocephalus, connecting them to life‑changing surgical interventions.

But healing is a journey, not a single step. Children require regular review clinics to stay healthy and prevent complications. For many caregivers, financial constraints and long distances make these visits difficult.

To bridge this gap, L’Arche Kenya opens its doors for Bethany Kids doctors to conduct outreach clinics within our community. This initiative brings specialized care closer to families, empowering caregivers and ensuring children receive the follow‑up support they deserve.

Through this partnership, we are building a network of care rooted in dignity and inclusion where children thrive, caregivers feel supported, and communities grow stronger together.
