Mental Health is and should be everyone's business.

To end the stigma around it, we must embrace and encourage transparent, constructive dialogues, since a problem shared is a problem half-solved.

It is important to build trust, create a safe space, and use kind words, because fear may lead one to respond that they are just fine, instead of actually sharing and seeking the support they need.

Be patient, be kind, and let us all take care of each other's mental health.

There is no Health without Mental Health.

Mental health is as important as physical health, being responsible for how we think, feel, and respond to whatever life brings us every day.

It is our responsibility to take care of our mental health through self-care and keeping healthy habits. Also, we should be each other's support system by encouraging open conversations without judgment, so that someone knows that they are not alone in their struggles.

Be your brother's keeper.

Let us be compassionate and extend grace and understanding, so that we create a world where everyone feels supported, loved, and cared for.

The Community Program for Peace and Reconciliation held an Amani Club exchange and learning forum at Mathanji Comprehensive School, and Marura Narok, in Sosian, Rumuruti Division. The message of the day was peace, which is an integral part of our lives.

When there is peace, families stay together, and communities become stronger. Peace gives children a safe environment where they can learn, play, and grow, focusing on their dreams.

Children need to grow up in peaceful environments so that they can become responsible adults who help create a better future for everyone.

In recognition of the recent Health Week at Laikipia University-KE, our Community Counseling Team was honored to take part in an initiative dedicated to promoting student well-being.

Over the course of two days, our volunteer counselors and staff provided free counseling services to students, fostering a safe, supportive environment where individuals could openly share their thoughts, challenges, and experiences.

Students engaged in conversations ranging from academic pressures and relationship concerns to anxiety, stress, and personal growth.

Our aim was to meet students where they are, offering empathy, guidance, and reassurance, reminding them that they are not alone on their journey.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month.

Living with ADHD can feel like a rollercoaster. In our latest guest blogpost, Cass Mansell (a guest and friend of L'Arche Kenya and St. Martin) shares his lived experience with ADHD, while comparing the support systems in Spain with the powerful community care we build right here in Kenya. As Cass says, Understanding is Everything.

Read Cass's full reflection and join us in raising awareness and empathy

ADHD is often misunderstood, leading to unfair judgments and missed opportunities for support. In my personal journey, I’ve navigated the challenges of ADHD from childhood in England to my experiences in Spain and Kenya. This blog shares my story, highlighting the differences in understanding and ...

May is Mental Health Awareness Month.
This month, we are inviting you to pause and reflect on:
What triggers you?
What affects your mental wellbeing?
What opportunities exist around you to support your mental health?

Take time to become more self-aware, check in with yourself and those around you, and seek support when needed. Because mental health is not just an individual concern, but also a collective responsibility.

During their team building exercise today, our drivers showed us that while they’re experts at handling tight corners and schedules, they’re also very skilled at teamwork and competitive games 😁

We are proud of this amazing crew 👏

Gen-Z are suffering from the curse of information. Their mobile phone screens constantly expose them to real time news about war, economic instability, political tension, and human suffering.

Watching the world crash traps them in a scrolling loop. They stay glued to their phones because looking away feels impossible. This daily flood of disaster breeds nihilism (the belief that life has no real meaning or purpose).

When the future looks bleak, caring feels pointless. To survive the stress, they use those same gadgets to find relief. They share dark humor and memes to laugh at the chaos with others. The internet gives them a community that understands the hopelessness.

Our latest blog post by Maureen Njeri breaks down how economics and philosophy shape Gen Z's mental health and how we can better support them.

In Kenya, “Gen Z” has evolved beyond a mere demographic label, encompassing a wide range of young individuals grappling with existential questions. Constant exposure to global crises through social media fosters a sense of nihilism, where the future feels inaccessible. This mindset, often termed...

Today, we took part in a spiritual retreat based on the theme “The Cross, the Community of Jesus and the Call,” drawn from Gospel of John 20:19–31. The retreat brought together board members of L'Arche Kenya and St. Martin CSA, together with management committee members from the Children in Need, Peace and Reconciliation, Mental Health and Sustainable Livelihood programmes. It was held at Tabor-Hill Spirituality Centre.

The reflection was led by Fr. Simon Waitherero, who helped us reflect on the fear and guilt the apostles experienced after the death of Jesus. They felt guilty because they had run away when Jesus needed them most and they remained locked inside, afraid and uncertain. But Jesus appeared to them and greeted them with peace, not blame. Even then, they still struggled with fear and were not ready to go out immediately.

After the input, we had a moment of silence followed by group sharing and plenary presentations. Many of us saw how this message relates to our own lives, we too can be held back by fear, guilt, and doubt. Still, we are called to move forward in faith and continue the mission. As organizations, we are challenged to go back with courage, reach out to our communities and respond to the needs of those who are suffering, building communities of compassion, solidarity and hope.

The Community Programme for Peace and Reconciliation (CPPR) hosted the Soma Mwana Mentorship Programme from April 13 to 15, 2026.

The initiative gathered girls supported by the organization with school fees and uniforms to enable them to remain in school throughout the course of their secondary education.

Over the three days, students attended interactive sessions covering self-identity, self-awareness, self-advocacy, and social media use.

CPPR designed the mentorship to give the girls the knowledge and confidence to make informed decisions and advocate for their futures.
