Maasai Education & Empowerment Today

Maasai Education & Empowerment Today Maasai Education & Empowerment Today is an organization that raises money to help young Maasai girls in Kenya to attend high school.

In 2013 I spent time with some Maasai women in Kenya who helped run the Twala Women's Center. These women were working hard to empower themselves and other Maasai women in their community through education, growing crops and selling bead work to tourists. During this time I learned that many young Maasai girls are unable to attend school from lack of funds. This is why I started the non-profit MEE

Happy International Women’s Day

When girls are educated, communities rise.
When women lead, societies transform.

Today we celebrate the strength, resilience, and leadership of women everywhere, especially those from indigenous and marginalised communities who continue to shape a more just and equitable world.

At MEET, we believe empowering girls through education is one of the most powerful pathways to equality, dignity, and lasting community change.

Flashback to five years ago, during one of our annual mentorship sessions.

On this day, our Board and supporters made it possible for us to host the workshop in Nanyuki town. For many of the girls, it was their first time ever visiting a town, and their excitement was evident.
As part of the experience, we visited Mt. Kenya Wildlife Conservancy, where the girls learned about conservation initiatives, wildlife protection, and the care of orphaned animals. It was a powerful lesson on responsibility, coexistence, and stewardship of our natural heritage.

At MEET Girls, we are committed to nurturing well-rounded girls — confident, informed, and prepared to engage with the world beyond the classroom.

On this International Day of Education, we celebrate education as a powerful equaliser — a catalyst for change, development, and community empowerment.

All of us at MEET are extremely grateful for Liz & Jacinta. At our fundraiser they both openly shared their stories about life as a young Maasai girl in Kenya. They explained how education can empower a girl to change her life. Both women came from extremely poor backgrounds. With a secondary education they were able to further their educations at colleges in Kenya. Today they hold jobs where they are able to help others in Kenya and the United States. Liz works for a nonprofit in Kenya helping the indigenous tribes. Jacinta works as a nurse helping the homeless in Seattle.
By donating to MEET you can help more girls become like Liz & Jacinta. For as little as $20 you can change a life.

You can Change a Girl's Life Donate Today This is a 501 (c) 3 charity.

Our Story

In 2013 I spent time with a group of Maasai women in Kenya who help run the Twala Women's Center. This is a Maasai women’s organization that was established to empower Maasai women through education, growing crops and selling bead work to tourists. During this time I learned that many young Maasai girls are unable to attend high school. This is why I started the nonprofit MEET.

Kenya does not provide a free education after 8th grade. If a girl or boy wishes to continue their education they must first past their 8th grade exam. After that they will be expected to pay for school tuition and uniform fees. This is often more than $500 per year. Far too much for a young girl who is orphaned or comes from a poverty stricken home. MEET provides the educational funds to Maasai girls in the Laikipia region who wish to continue their education, but do not have the funds to do so.
