The WHO European Region is the only WHO region not on track to meet the global target to reduce ***co use among women by 30%.

Ten new MPOWER Fact sheets reveal the Region’s progress.

WHO/Europe has today published 10 new factsheets on to***co, revealing that the Region – covering 53 countries across Europe and Central Asia – is on course to maintain its status as having the world’s highest to***co use prevalence by 2030, with particularly concerning trends among women and ...

Sometimes we want our kids to yell 'NO!' 🙅‍♂️

Meet Jesse O. Thomas, the visionary educator who forged the path for future African Americans at the Red Cross.

In 1943, Jesse made history by becoming the first African American to be hired as executive staff at our national headquarters. He then spent the next 10 years of his career spearheading the Red Cross' journey toward racial integration.

Other ways Jesse broke barriers and gained national prominence include:
📚 Becoming the protégé of iconic author and educator, Booker T. Washington.
📚 Gaining the attention of President Theodore Roosevelt while studying at Tuskegee Institute.
📚 Opening the Field Secretary Office of the National Urban League, becoming the first person of color to work in an exclusively white organization.
We are grateful for Jesse's transformative contributions to the Red Cross that helped make our lifesaving mission what it is today.
