In 2024, a young person came to our institution, Ngong Huruma Children’s Home, identifying himself as Jayden Mung’are. Based on the information presented to us at the time, he was admitted into the home and stayed with the other boys in the dormitory.
After some time, concerns were raised by other children regarding inappropriate behavior toward fellow boys. Before the matter could be fully addressed, he left the home without authorization and took one of our school uniforms with him.
Later, we received information that an individual connected to our school had been found in Narok. Upon receiving a photo, we observed that it was the same person from our school. The person was dressed in a girl’s school uniform. The matter was reported to the police for verification. We were informed that the individual was male.
We received further reports that the same person was found in Juja, allegedly involved in inappropriate conduct while still wearing a school uniform that appears to have been taken from our institution. We again requested the authorities to verify the matter and recover any school uniforms belonging to our home.
Since then, we have continued receiving reports of arrests involving this individual in different areas. As an institution concerned about the safety and welfare of children, we continue to ask the relevant authorities to thoroughly investigate these incidents and take appropriate action where necessary, as we believe there may be ongoing risks to children and the community.
