In 2024, a young person came to our institution, Ngong Huruma Children’s Home, identifying himself as Jayden Mung’are. Based on the information presented to us at the time, he was admitted into the home and stayed with the other boys in the dormitory.

After some time, concerns were raised by other children regarding inappropriate behavior toward fellow boys. Before the matter could be fully addressed, he left the home without authorization and took one of our school uniforms with him.

Later, we received information that an individual connected to our school had been found in Narok. Upon receiving a photo, we observed that it was the same person from our school. The person was dressed in a girl’s school uniform. The matter was reported to the police for verification. We were informed that the individual was male.

We received further reports that the same person was found in Juja, allegedly involved in inappropriate conduct while still wearing a school uniform that appears to have been taken from our institution. We again requested the authorities to verify the matter and recover any school uniforms belonging to our home.

Since then, we have continued receiving reports of arrests involving this individual in different areas. As an institution concerned about the safety and welfare of children, we continue to ask the relevant authorities to thoroughly investigate these incidents and take appropriate action where necessary, as we believe there may be ongoing risks to children and the community.

A clear indication of how productive the land in Gatune can be.
What we are seeing now is just the beginning. With continued effort, learning, and support, we believe that in a short while, our production will grow even greater, bringing more impact, sustainability, and opportunity to our community.
These onions were planted on just a small portion of the land, yet the results speak for themselves.

CELEBRATING OUR YOUNG CHAMPIONS!

We are bursting with pride today!

Our young adults from Transition 2026 have officially graduated after completing a 3-month intensive Maisha Syntropic Agro-forestry Vocational Training in Kisumu—fully sponsored by Hope for huruma Foundation

These young men and women rolled up their sleeves, got their hands in the soil, and truly showed us what dedication looks like. Over the past three months, they have gained hands-on knowledge in sustainable farming, agro-forestry, and food systems that heal both people and the planet.

Your hard work and excellence inspire the entire Huruma family!

To the whole Transition 2026 cohort:
You have planted seeds of knowledge, and now it is time to grow them into meaningful futures. The skills you have gained will not only shape your own lives but will also make a lasting impact in the communities you will serve. We are especially excited to see this knowledge put into practice at our Gatune Farm in Nachu Kiambu County, where you continue to work hard to grow food for Huruma Children’s Home.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Maisha Syntropic Agro-forestry for believing in our young adults and sponsoring this life-changing program.

A special thank you to Hope for Huruma family at large—your support and belief in this journey have made this achievement possible. It is truly encouraging to see this vision come to accomplishment.

The future is green, and it is in good hands.

Join us in celebrating them!

Cynthia turns 3 today 🎉

She came to Huruma Children's Home - Huruma Trust Fund at just 10 days old, following the passing of her mother, who was also once a child from the home.

Today, she was full of joy as she celebrated her third birthday with her classmates.

I look forward to seeing the wonderful woman she will grow into.

This week we celebrated women across the globe, remembering and appreciating their great contributions in many areas of life.

I was privileged to join other women in celebrating this special day. It was a wonderful moment of unity, appreciation, and encouragement.

To all women: know that you are great, strong, and valuable. The world looks more beautiful because of each one of you. Keep shining and making a difference. Happy International Women’s Day! 💜

I was deeply touched and grateful to receive a beautiful pair of handmade open shoes as a gift for the ladies in Huruma Children's home. These wonderful shoes were made by a group of talented young men from Mpenda Mazingira. I truly appreciate them for choosing to share their talent with us. Their kindness and generosity mean a lot to our community, and I pray that the Lord will remember them for remembering us and bless the work of their hands.

I was especially happy to see Shaddrack as part of this initiative. Shaddrack was once a student at Huruma Children’s Home, and it is a joy to see that he still remembers where he came from and continues to support us. The team is also planning to plant trees at our Gatune farm, which is a wonderful step toward caring for the environment and building a greener future. We are very grateful and look forward to welcoming them.

This photo captures a simple but powerful moment: nutritious meals carefully prepared and served for our children. Behind every plate is your kindness. Your support ensures that our children are not only fed, but nourished, healthy, and reminded every day that they are loved and valued.

To our partners and sponsors, thank you for standing with us. Your generosity turns ordinary days into moments of dignity and joy for these young lives. Because of you, our children can grow, learn, and dream without the worry of an empty plate.

May God bless you abundantly as you continue to walk this journey with us. Together, we are shaping brighter futures—one meal at a time. 🙏❤️
