Today, more than 25 thousand kids below 15 years go to school in the Mukogodo Ecosystem(Laikipia North, Samburu east and Isiolo north). These kids depend on the school feeding program to listen, write and actively participate in classes as most them come to school hungry and malnourished.

However, the challenges of globally has affected the consistency of food supply for the school feeding program as most of these supplies are sourced outside the local communities.

Here at Actnow-Kenya , we saying no to this. We are working with schools in rural areas to set up vegetable gardens to supplement meals needs, capacity development kids in nutrition classes and restore idle school compounds.

Our soil sampling analysis is complete😊.
Thanks to - The International Centre for Research in Agroforestry, for granting Actnow-Kenya access to advanced lab facilities for soil and saline water analysis.

This analysis will inform:
✅selection of the most suitable crop varieties to the local landscapes while still maintaining nutritional outcomes for kids
✅ a status report on the viability of using saline water for drip irrigation-being the most readily accessible water type in
✅evidence-based gardening solution tailored to arid and semi-arides areas like Northern Kenya.

These offers unique approach for and of as a model for school feeding program in Kenya.
