Youth empowerment isn't gendered — it's collective.
The RISE Framework by Kijana Rise Foundation walks alongside young people aged 12–25, male and female, equipping them to lead, support one another, and build character and purpose through Talent, Tech and Mentorship.

There is something powerful about watching a young person discover what they are capable of.

My name is Captain Asego. I am a teacher by profession. For the past three years, I have worked with Daraja Kenya Initiative as a youth mentor. I have taught in some of the big schools in Kenya — and in all these spaces, I have seen one thing clearly:

There is a gap in creative mentorship.

Our boys and girls are talented.
The poet who needs a pen and paper.
The footballer who needs boots and a field.
The musician who needs a guitar and a stage.
The spoken word artist who simply needs to be heard.
The tech mind who needs a laptop and guidance.
The dancer who needs a platform.
The visual artist who needs a canvas.

But too many of these talents remain unseen. Unexposed. Unused.

And when talent is not nurtured, something else fills the gap — drugs, crime, hopelessness, social evils.

Kijana Rise Foundation is a dream born from conversations, experience, and a deep burden for this generation. Together with partners, we are building a bridge — a bridge between the streets and opportunity, between drugs and destiny, between social evils and purpose.

We want to locate talent in visual arts, spoken word, music, sports, dance, and tech.
We want to build it. Mentor it. Expose it to opportunity.

We believe in He for She.
We believe in a creative generation.
We believe in a rising generation.

This is more than a foundation.
It is a call.
It is a movement.
It is hope.

Raising boys into men requires intention.

In mentorship spaces, I use simple but powerful engagement tools that challenge boys to observe closely, recognize leadership, and take responsibility. These exercises build awareness, accountability, and values-driven leadership.

I genuinely enjoy this work. There is immense potential among boys, and society thrives when we intentionally raise men of character, conviction, and courage—men who lead with purpose and stand for what is right.

This cohort was hosted at Daraja Academy during a Boys’ Bootcamp (2nd–6th) as part of The Man I Am mentorship program. The boys are academically sponsored by 410 Bridge, whose support strengthens both academic growth and character formation.

Mentorship is not an event. It is a process.
