Lancci in conjunction with shulmai community conservation yesterday held meeting with the youth, women, grazing land commettee leaders, elders and pastors, had a participatory dialogue to strengthening participatory conflict and capacity assessment (FGDs) .
The main Objectives are:-
1.To strengthen the capacity of the Yaaku Indigenous governance structures (specifically the Community Land Management Committee and the traditional age-sets - ‘Laiguanak’) in conflict prevention, mediation, and peacebuilding.
2.To develop and formalize a culturally appropriate, transparent, and equitable. community-owned Benefit Sharing Agreement.
3.To establish and operationalize an effective, accessible, and culturally-grounded Grievance Redress Mechanism (GRM) rooted in Yaaku Indigenous knowledge and practices.
4.To restore the agency and legitimacy of the Yaaku governance systems in managing community land affairs and conflict resolution.
Expected Results
1.A significant reduction in resource-based conflicts within the Shulmai Community Land.
2. A documented and community-endorsed -Benefit Sharing Agreement Framework that outlines clear, fair, and transparent processes for distributing benefits from land investments.
3.A documented and community-endorsed - Grievance Redress Mechanism Framework that provides a clear, step-by-step process for resolving disputes.
4.Increased confidence and collaboration- between the elected CLMC and the traditional Laiguanak system, leading to more unified and respected decision-making.
5.Enhance skills and knowledge among community leaders (men, women, and youth) in mediation, negotiation, and consensus-building.
