KaziMind Wellness had the pleasure of hosting Trish Kinoti (Lead Facilitator, Gender Specialist, Research & Analysis, Culture Analyst and Writer)for a thought-provoking conversation on men, masculinities, identity, relationships and emotional wellbeing.

At KaziMind, we recognise that mental wellbeing is central to healthier relationships, families and communities. Conversations like these open doors to collaboration, learning and practical change.

You can be functioning and still be struggling.

Sometimes it looks like getting through work, answering messages, showing up for people, while quietly feeling exhausted, disconnected, irritated, or mentally overwhelmed.

Not every struggle announces itself. Some of them simply become part of your routine until you stop noticing how much you're carrying.

You don't have to wait until you're falling apart before you take yourself seriously. Paying attention to how you're feeling is a valid place to start.

What have you been carrying lately that you've been calling “fine”?

Su***de is often surrounded by assumptions about what someone should look or sound like when they are struggling.

Those assumptions can make it harder to notice distress, respond appropriately, or take someone seriously when they reach out.

Changing the narrative means being more intentional about what we believe, what we say, and how we respond when su***de comes up.

This Su***de Prevention Day, let’s make room for conversations that are informed, compassionate and free from judgment.

Not every struggle looks like a struggle.

Sometimes it looks like keeping busy, meeting responsibilities, showing up for others, and quietly carrying things you haven't had space to process.

Your wellbeing deserves attention before things become overwhelming. Reaching out, talking things through, and seeking professional support are all valid ways of taking care of yourself.

Your mental health is worth making time for.

We often expect a person in crisis to look a certain way. That expectation can make genuine warning signs easier to overlook.

If something someone says or does leaves you concerned, don't talk yourself out of checking in. A simple, genuine conversation can create an opening for someone to share what they are carrying.

Listening without judgment can matter more than having the perfect response.

A conversation can change more than we realise.

Changing the narrative on su***de means moving away from silence, stigma and assumptions, and towards conversations where people can speak honestly and be met with empathy.

This Su***de Prevention Month, check in. Listen. Don't judge. Offer support.

Let's change the narrative, one conversation at a time.

Nothing major happened.

But somehow, you’re tired of answering, deciding, managing, remembering and keeping everything moving.

That counts too.

Overwhelm can build quietly through ordinary things. Recognising it early is part of taking care of yourself.

You can be functioning and still not be doing okay.

You’re going to work. Replying to messages. Showing up for people. Getting things done.

But somewhere along the way, you’ve become more tired, more irritable, more withdrawn or simply less interested in the things you normally enjoy.

Sometimes the signs are subtle.

What has changed lately?
