As we celebrate Father's Day today, we ask Her Excellency Governor Susan Kihika and the
County Assembly to urgently operationalize the Persons With Disability Act, 2026.

Failure to do so is a clear confirmation that they either don't appreciate issues of disability or they don't value persons with disability and their caregivers.

This Act presents a very radical shift to the way the government, both National and County , respond to issues concerning disability in Kenya. Specifically, persons with disability should access healthcare services at no charge at any hospital under the county government!

Happy Mother's Day to all mothers. A mother plays a central role in the life of a child.

Maybe nobody appreciates your work. Or even no-one pays you. Maybe even what you do is not regarded as work. But don't worry at all. As long as what you do is in line with John 9:1-3, He who provides for everyone appreciates your work.

Happy Labour Day to all Caregivers of persons living with Cerebral Palsy!

ONE MORE MOTIVATING STORY ABOUT CEREBRAL PALSY

THANKS COUNTY ASSEMBLY OF NAKURU BUT...

The county assembly of Nakuru(CA) recently passed the Persons with Disability Bill that eventually became an Act. The Act has very good package or rather opportunities for PWDs and progressively builds on the repealed Act.

NEVERTHELESS and SADLY, the said Act lacks COURAGE, BOLDNESS and ORIGINALITY in the sense that it fails to localise the national Persons with Disability Act 2025, which should essentially be the template for any legislation concerning PWDs and disability at the county level.

The national Act has boldly, and for the first time, recognised the role of caregivers of PWDs and by so doing brought with it far reaching affirmative action concerning the caregivers. There are also new rights for PWDs. For instance, free medical care and free medical assessment which were hitherto unheard of.

Therefore, the CA should move with speed and fine-tune this Act so that it marches with the National one, especially on areas that concern county governments. The hard work has already been done by the national Act! Yours is just to give it effect at the county level!
