Jesus is known for associating with the unwanted, the less preferred and He was even insulted for that!
Matthew 9:9-13 A scene where Jesus dawns the truth unto everyone.
It starts with the calling of Matthew, a tax collector, a hated man, a man considered oppressive, a man the world viewed as the most wicked. A traitor, the one who joined in with the Romans to oppress his brothers. His family disowned him, his people disregard him. He was a bad person. No one should be seen with him.
Then comes in Jesus. One who claims to be the Son of God. One who teaches a bout righteousness. One who has become a role model. One who should be seated with the Pharisees. One so perfect .
But in His company, a number of rogue men, the violent, the immortals, the doubtful, the poor, the drunkhards, murderers, and generally., all the wicked.
This was wrong. This man had to be a lie. This man should not be keeping such people around him,so said the Pharisees.
Jesus heard and posed a questioning answer to them, to us: WHO NEEDS THE DOCTOR, THE SICK OR THE THE WELL?
He went on to answer, "THOSE WHO ARE WELL HAVE NO NEED FOR THE DOCTOR , BUT THE SICK , THEY ARE IN GREATE NEED OF A DOCTOR"
So yes. Yes it is you and I, that need Jesus. Not the righteous. Not the Holy. Not the perfect. Not the excellent.
It is you and I, sinners, unworthy and undeserving.
Come to Him for He is calling.
Open up your heart, He's been knocking for the longest time.
He chose you. He loves you. He bought you.
