Alpha invitation cards set out st St Peter’s Takapuna. The Alpha course is a 8-10 week course that allows people to slowly explore Christianity and experience Christian discipleship.

It was lovely to join the congregation at the Apia Protestant church last Sunday.

They started the sermon with a bible quiz, which really engaged the youth. It was encouraging to be part of a vibrant, sincere congregation in the heart of Apia, Samoa.

This church in Apia is a beautiful example of the Christian gospel message meeting local culture.

The designers have woven local architectural style and decoration together with a colourful pictorial presentation of the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Because of Easter and Christ’s resurrection we get to say with the Saints of old: “Death couldn’t have Him and the grave couldn’t hold Him. Allelujah He is risen!”

Good Friday is the day that we remember Jesus’ death on the cross. It’s good as it was good for us! Jesus made a way for us to be made right with God. He paid the price so we can go free. ‘While we were still sinners Christ died for us’.

These words are on my great-grandmother’s grave in Avondale, inspiration for the same to be said at the end of our lives.
