We had a wonderful Christmas with new gifts for the children. Someone surprised us with some wooden educational games, thanks again. The children will be excited and I am sure that also our school teachers will be very happy with these tools which will help them evaluating the children.

The graduands of our Nursery school, Madre Moretta AlBaCete got the suprise of their young lives. LAGCA had organized a visit to Nairobi, which was for these boys and girls the first time in their life that they were so far away from home. And not only did the journey go to Nairobi, the adventure went to Wilson Airport, where they got a platform tour ! They had a wonderful time and n the way back they were sleeping and dreaming of a nice future for themselves, we are sure about that.

Madre Moretta Graduation Trip 2024 is one to remember. For the first time in our history the graduates went on an exciting daytrip to visit an airport. Only they didn't know where they were heading to.... The kids had the best day ever, most of them had not been outside their own neighborhood let alone with a luxury Van all the way to Nairobi ! On top of that, they were able to see real airplanes up close. And what child doesn't dream to become a pilot or stewardess ? Very tired but full with big stories and dreams they came back home. We hope that with this trip we have put a little fire inside these kids, that everything they want to achieve in life is within their reach, and the possiblities are limitless.

LAGCA Children / Madre Moretti went to the swimming pool. For the first time since the new curriculum is teached, our children of the second class went for their swimming lesson. Exciting and fun ! Luckily it was also good weather after some rainy days. Please help these children to continue to do their swimming lessons. The 10 euro per child is for relatives a heavy burden on their income.

The children are using the new handwashing sink. A big improvement with the old situation. Now we look for the right moment to put tiles and some paint on it. And a children-proof soap dispenser. Thanks to the donators who made this possible. With your continuous support we will be able to constantly improve our Nursery school. The next improvement will be our kitchen which is still a temporarely construction. Please show your support by donating for a rebuild of the kitchen for the health of our children.

World Refugee Day 2024
For the first time we celebrated World Refugee Day in Nakuru, Kenia. What turned out to be a wonderful day. The refugee displayed their many talents and gave a marvelous show. As LAGCA was part of the organsising comitee I had a enjoyable day. Next year we will be present again on the 20th of June. But in between we will cooperate more with the community groups to see how we can help and make each other stronger.

Help LAGCA Children to wash their hands !

The Madre Moretta AlBaCete Nursery school in Nakuru, Kenya is looking for your support. At the moment the school is using a watertank collecting rainwater as a single point for washing hands. Because of health regulations the school needs to connect to piped water and create a better fixed handwashing installation with multiple water taps and small mobile installations in front of every classroom.
The new proposed handwash installation is to be build next to the stairs in front of the toilet block with at least three water taps. The water taps will be adjusted to the height of the children.
And in front of the classrooms we want to put these simple metal frames so the children can wash their hands before entering the classrooms.
The costs to get a connection to water company is quoted at 20,000 ksh (150 euro) . The water connection material is also an 20,000 ksh . The fixed water point is quoted at 15.000 ksh, the mobile water frames are calculated at 2,500 ksh each. Total costs including labor will be 75,000 ksh (=500 euro).
