On 10/05/2024 I built my very first Machine Learning Model using IBM Watson Studio. 😃

The learning model was designed to predict whether a Loan Applicant is likely to payback or default on loan payment.

Watu wa Fuliza, hellooo! 😅

I trained the model on 90% of the data set, including loan outcomes.

Used the remaining 10% of the data in the data set to test the model to see which algorithm gives the best predictions.

Saved the final model with highest model as a Jupyter notebook.

Confusion Matrix Results

The model had an accuracy rating of 0.784 on the Holdout data.

This means:

About 78% of the time, the model accurately predicted whether someone is a good risk for a loan.

About 22% of the time, the model made an inaccurate prediction.

Over my 6 years of hosting and moderating events, this was by far the most sentimental session I have ever had. Not that the previous ones had lesser oomph! but this one really got to me. The audience, me included, were all teary-glued to the heartfelt speaker as she shared her ordeal.

At one point I almost asked the speaker to stop and let me end the session. We could see and feel how freshly the wound inflicted on her by the sabotage still haunted her.

But like a Phoenix rising from the ashes, Cindy Maghuwa Hera, founder Cindy’s KitchenKe, embraced the moment. She went on on how she had lost her company to her very close friend and was only left with 1% shareholding. This took a great toll on her to the point she needed therapy and spiritual counsel to wade through it all.

However, the resilience and belief in her craft would not let her falter. Cindy would later do a total pivot and get back on her entrepreneurial journey. She found a comforting niche in consulting for her services. Something she admits surprised her as to how fulfilling it turned out to be.

13/02/2024 I was invited to an eTIMs forum at Sirikwa Hotel .Here is a brief of the outcome:

1. Anybody who is in a business generating activity should and must be on eTIMs whether VAT or non-VAT registered

2. Tax Amnesty runs from 1st Sept 2023 - 30th June 2024

3. You are placed on a 'Special Table' if your file numerous NIL Returns or if found doing fraudulent business tactics.

4. KRA has opposed the 5million exemption clause that would aid small businesses making a turnover below this threshold.

Online Child Safety on Social Media!!

Dear Parents,

Here's a matter we need not overlook, lest we lose a whole generation to sexual predators!

The United States Senate Judiciary Committee recently summoned top social media CEOs: Meta/Facebook, TikTok, X/Twitter, Discord, and SnapChat to testify about their safety standard measures when it came to protecting children online.

The focus was on child safety, with discussions around features that addict children and protection from online predators.

Notable areas included: child exploitation, sexual predators, addictive social media features, self-harm, eating disorders, unrealistic beauty standards, and cyber bullying.

A couple of solutions were proposed, like requiring parental consent on applications before a child installs it and stricter age limit barriers.

The senate is yet to vote on the hearing's outcome.
