Their stewardship is critical to protecting forests, sustaining biodiversity, and maintaining the balance between people and planet.

Members of the Ogiek community, particularly women and youth who are the traditional custodians of the forest, have taken a leading role in restoring the degraded sections of the Upper East Mau Forest. Through the application of Nature-based Solutions (NbS), they have been actively engaged in rehabilitating areas from Logoman Forest to 'Gorigaap Asista'. This effort is being implemented under the ongoing project by the Save Mau Forest Initiative.
