Egypt provides nearly 1200 military and police officers to five United Nations Peacekeeping missions around the world.

They are serving for peace at great personal risk and under harsh conditions to help others. We thank them for their service and sacrifice.

Comunicado sobre la situación en Venezuela

La Unión Africana sigue con profunda preocupación los recientes acontecimientos en la República Bolivariana de Venezuela, incluidos los informes sobre el secuestro del Presidente de la República, Sr. Nicolás Maduro, así como ataques militares contra instituciones venezolanas.

La Unión Africana reafirma su firme compromiso con los principios fundamentales del derecho internacional, en particular el respeto a la soberanía de los Estados, su integridad territorial y el derecho de los pueblos a la autodeterminación, tal como se consagran en la Carta de las Naciones Unidas.

La Unión Africana subraya la importancia del diálogo, la solución pacífica de las controversias y el respeto de los marcos constitucionales e institucionales, en un espíritu de buena vecindad, cooperación y coexistencia pacífica entre las naciones.

La Unión Africana destaca que los complejos desafíos internos que enfrenta Venezuela solo pueden abordarse de manera sostenible mediante un diálogo político inclusivo entre los propios venezolanos.

La Unión Africana expresa su solidaridad con el pueblo venezolano y reitera su compromiso con la promoción de la paz, la estabilidad y el respeto mutuo entre las naciones y las regiones.

La Unión Africana hace un llamado a todas las partes interesadas para que actúen con moderación, responsabilidad y respeto del derecho internacional, a fin de evitar cualquier escalada y preservar la paz y la estabilidad regionales.
