STATEMENT BY THE WOMEN CONNECT SHOW-KENYA
On the Tragic Fire at Utumishi Girls Academy, Gilgil
It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we join the nation in mourning the heartbreaking loss of young lives following the tragic fire at Utumishi Girls Academy in Gilgil.
These young girls were more than students; they were daughters, sisters, friends, and future leaders whose dreams and aspirations have been cut short far too soon. Their loss is a painful reminder of how fragile life is, and today, our hearts ache alongside their families and loved ones.
To every grieving parent and family, please accept our heartfelt condolences during this incredibly difficult time. We pray that God grants you strength, comfort, and peace beyond understanding.
To the students and staff who sustained injuries and trauma, we wish you healing, courage, and recovery. May you find comfort in the love and support of a nation standing with you.
As a platform committed to empowering women and young girls, we call upon all relevant authorities and stakeholders to prioritize the safety and well-being of students in all learning institutions across the country. No parent should ever have to endure such unimaginable pain.
Let this tragedy awaken all of us to the urgent need for stronger safety measures, preparedness, and accountability within our schools.
Today, we mourn together as one nation. And together, we must ensure that these precious lives are honored through meaningful action and lasting change.
