A race against time!

What should have been a 2 day journey took just 1 hour and 40 minutes

Baby Alisha Lemongi and her mother, Nairita Lemongi, needed to get from Sedar which is in the Northern part of Kenya to Nairobi urgently. MAF was able to fly them so that the baby could get help at Kijabe Hospital.

Doctors ran a full investigation, from urinalysis, blood tests and a chest X-ray and discovered that Alisha had been receiving the wrong medication.

Alisha is now on the correct treatment and an infection found during testing is also being managed. She is scheduled for a follow up flight back to Kijabe on the 11th of November.

“Thanks so much for helping her get down to Nairobi, it may have saved her life as we didn’t have another trip to Kijabe scheduled,” said Mick Alley, the founder of Samburu Missions Kenya.

This is what MAF does, connecting communities to the care they can’t reach when every minute counts.

These aren't places you can just drive to easily; for a lot of these villages, a plane is the fastest and often the only way vaccines get there in time and in good condition.

we were thrilled to complete our very first flight to Lantoto Airstrip in Rasolo, Western Equatoria State.
Located right on the border with the DRC, this remote airstrip is a critical gateway. For this milestone flight, we partnered with the Enjojo Foundation to fly their team in to conduct vital training with local park rangers, strengthening efforts to protect the region's incredible biodiversity.

“When the MAF plane touched down at Lantoto Airstrip for the first time, it was a deeply emotional and symbolic moment for all of us at the Enjojo Foundation,” says Tharcisse Munyaneza, Head of Finance and Administration at Enjojo Foundation.
“Above all, it was a moment of appreciation for the dedication of our team, the support of our partners, and the trust of the local communities who have been part of this journey from the beginning. It marked the beginning of a new chapter filled with hope and possibility.”

By touching down in Lantoto, MAF International in South Sudan is turning a gruelling, days-long road journey into a short, safe flight. Beyond supporting conservation, this new opening breaks the isolation for local communities, opening the door for healthcare, education, and essential aid to finally reach those who need it most.

This is just the beginning of how this airstrip will connect, heal, and transform lives in Western Equatoria!

For pastoralist communities, livestock are more than animals. They are an important source of food, income and livelihood.

Veterinarians with a Mission Program team has been on the ground providing veterinary care to sheep, goats and camels, helping protect them from worms, malnutrition and other health challenges. So far, #2000 livestock have received treatment, including ivermectin and multivitamins to support their health and wellbeing.

We’re grateful to our dedicated team, partners and to God for the opportunity to serve communities and support the pastoralists who depend on their livestock every day.
