What the Bible says about debt, 5 verses that will challenge you.
God's Word has more to say about debt than most of us have read.
From Proverbs to Romans, Scripture speaks clearly about borrowing, lending, and financial obligation. Here are 5 key passages.
1. "The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is slave to the lender." — Proverbs 22:7
Debt is not neutral. It creates a power dynamic. When you owe, someone else has authority over your future.

2. "Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another." — Romans 13:8
Paul's vision for believers includes financial freedom — freedom to owe nothing except love.

3. "The wicked borrow and do not repay, but the righteous give generously." — Psalm 37:21
Repayment is a matter of integrity, not just finance.

4. "Do not be one who shakes hands in pledge or puts up security for debts." — Proverbs 22:26
Co-signing for debt carries serious risk — Scripture warns against it.

5. "Dishonest money dwindles away, but whoever gathers money little by little makes it grow." — Proverbs 13:11
Patience and consistency outperform shortcuts. Every time.

Which of these 5 is most challenging for you personally?

TAG A FRIEND who needs to hear this today.
Financial freedom is rarely a solo journey. Who in your life needs this community?
Sometimes the most generous thing you can do is share something that could change someone's financial life.

QUICK MATH: Can you figure out your monthly surplus?
This single number tells you everything about your financial health.
Your monthly surplus (or deficit) is the most important number in your finances. Most people have never calculated it. Let's change that.

No sales. Just guidance. The Freedom5one difference.
We don't sell products. We don't earn commissions. We just coach.
In a world full of financial 'experts' with something to sell, Freedom5one is refreshingly different.

The 5 most common reasons Kenyans stay in debt and how to break free.
Debt is not destiny. But you need to understand what's keeping you there.
Based on what we see in coaching conversations across our community, here are the five patterns that keep families stuck and the first step out of each.
1. MOBILE LENDING APPS
Fuliza, M-Shwari, Tala, Branch — easy to access, expensive to carry. The convenience is real. So is the trap.

2. FAMILY FINANCIAL OBLIGATIONS
Funerals, school fees, medical emergencies, siblings, extended family. These are real and they need a plan, not just a prayer.

3. SACCO & CHAMA OVER-BORROWING
Credit is good. Borrowing more than you can repay is not. Many families borrow from multiple sources simultaneously.

4. LIFESTYLE INFLATION
As income grows, spending grows faster. A raise becomes a bigger phone, not a bigger emergency fund.

5. NO WRITTEN PLAN
Without a spending plan, money disappears and debt fills the gap.

Spotlight: What makes the Nairobi Campus unique?
We're not just translating an American program. We're building something rooted in African soil.
Financial discipleship looks different here and that's intentional.

DEBATE: Is it wrong to want to be wealthy as a Christian?
Some say yes. Some say no. What does Scripture actually say?
This question divides Christians more than almost any other financial topic. We want to hear YOUR perspective — and then we'll share ours.
