CLOSING CEREMONY: SIRISIA FIRST LADY HONOURED IN LONDON AT FLAIR SUMMIT 2026 🏆🇰🇪🇬🇧

The First Ladies of Africa Impact & Resilience (FLAIR) Summit 2026 has closed in London on a high note for Kenya and for Sirisia.

In a moment of pride for Sirisia Constituency, *Mrs. Irene Chumo Waluke – First Lady Sirisia, member UWEP-Africa and Founder Khwinyusiane Empowerment Program* was awarded a *Special Recognition Award for Community Upliftment of Women and Girls.*

The award recognizes her tireless grassroots work through *Khwinyusiane's motto: "Educate, Empower, Break the Taboo"* a movement that has transformed the lives of women, school girls and youth through education support, menstrual dignity, chamas and table banking, and enterprise empowerment.

Speaking at the closing ceremony at The Dorchester, London, Mrs. Waluke dedicated the award to every mama, teacher and girl in Sirisia:

"This is not for me. This is for the girl in Malakisi who stayed home because of periods, the mama in Lwandanyi who started a chama with Ksh 500, and the teachers like who proves a classroom in Sirisia can help transform a society, as witnessed in the House of Lords. When we Educate, we Empower, and when we Empower, we Break the Taboo."

The Kenyan delegation was led by *H.E. Dr. Joyce Kithure Kindiki, Second Lady of Kenya*, and included Mrs. Electina Wasike Wanyonyi, Mrs. Edna Lenku, Mrs. Salome Atandi, Madam Juliet Lusabe among others.

From the House of Lords to The Dorchester and London Stock Exchange, the message was clear: Sirisia women are not waiting for development they are leading it.

As day two unfolds at the First Ladies of Africa Impact and Resilience (FLAIR) Summit at The Dorchester Hotel in London, the summit is building on the powerful launch on Day One at the UK Parliament House of Lords and the London Stock Exchange.

Day Two has been packed with inspiring speeches, panel discussions, round-tables and networking. A central theme has been women's economic empowerment and financial inclusion, starting with the "unbankable woman" who has no bank account or formal access to finance. The model shared begins with women organizing in chamas to save, supporting each other through table banking, learning bookkeeping to track ownership and growth, then investing and building stronger enterprises.

The conversation also emphasized the need for women to access capital, contracts, supply chains and procurement opportunities so businesses can scale, alongside mentorship, sponsorship, digital skills and investing in girls' education.

A 40-strong Kenyan delegation is in attendance, including Mrs. Electina Wasike Wanyonyi, Mrs. Irene Waluke, Mrs. Salome Atandi and Mrs. Edna Lenku. Yesterday at the House of Lords, Mrs. Wanyonyi delivered a goodwill message that women, youth, entrepreneurs and community leaders are not just beneficiaries of development but partners in shaping solutions.

Two messages have stood out today: Being in the room is not enough, we must have voice and influence, and Africa does not need saving, it needs capital, investment and partnerships. Discussions also stressed taking care of women's health first, breaking stigma and silence around maternal health.

As Khwinyusiane Empowerment Program, we are following the summit keenly. These lessons on economic inclusion, mentorship and health will help us tailor our own empowerment programs to better uplift communities back home.
