📌Role of community champions: Discussing the responsibilities of water and community champions in promoting water security and advocating for safe water practices.

Announcement‼️We have Official Launched

We are pleased to announce the official launch and full operationalisation of our Gender Desk, situated in Kawangware, Nairobi. This milestone marks a significant step forward in our organisation's continued commitment to advancing gender equality, promoting environmental sustainability and fostering inclusion within the community.

The Gender Desk will serve as a dedicated platform through which our organisation advances its core thematic priorities: addressing the impacts of climate change and environmental degradation, working toward the elimination of gender-based violence (GBV), and championing inclusion for all members of the community, regardless of gender, ability or social status. It is envisioned as a safe, accessible and responsive space where survivors, advocates and community members can seek support, information and referral services.

The launch event brought together a broad coalition of partners and stakeholders whose presence underscored the collective resolve to confront these challenges together. Represented at the occasion were Badili Africa , AfriNov KE, of Hope CBO, Warembo Unite, Salama youth c.b.o, Go Getter CBO, VOCAL Africa and Remusi Housing Cooperative Society Kenya, among other esteemed organisations working at the intersection of gender justice, environmental action and community development.

We extend our sincere gratitude to all partners, allies and community members whose support, solidarity and contributions have made this achievement possible. Your continued engagement has been instrumental in bringing this vision to life.

We look forward to this Gender Desk becoming a beacon of transformation and a trusted resource hub for our community, a place where survivors find support, where environmental stewardship is nurtured, and where inclusion is not merely an aspiration but a lived reality.

**Location:** The Gender Desk is situated along Muthiora Road, opposite Dagoretti Muslim Academy, Kawangware, Nairobi.

Yesterday, Women With Power CBO submitted a memorandum to the Nairobi City County Fiscal Strategy Paper (CFSP) FY 2026/2027 through the Office of the Chief Officer. Our message was clear:
✊ Fund women-led enterprises & expand GBV support services,
🌱 Invest in urban agriculture & food security,
🏘️ Strengthen community safety & street lighting in informal settlements,
💊 Support youth rehabilitation & substance abuse prevention programs,
🎓 Increase vocational training & startup grants for young people.
These are issues that affect our everyday lives and if we want a better Nairobi, the budget has to reflect the real needs of our communities.
