A powerful , community clean-up exercise took place in Mathare, organized through a partnership between Dot Kenya and mathare river Association slum network This collaborative effort focused on waste management and environmental conservation, bringing together youth, residents, and community leaders to take action for a cleaner, healthier Mathare.
The clean-up targeted key areas affected by poor waste disposal, promoting proper waste handling, recycling awareness, and community responsibility. Youth were at the forefront, sweeping, collecting litter, and educating fellow residents on the importance of keeping their environment clean.
This initiative not only improved sanitation but also strengthened partnerships among grassroots organizations working to make Mathare a safer, greener space. It also aligns with Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 11 – Sustainable Cities & Communities and SDG 13 – Climate Action).
