Our visit to AIC Kapsabet Senior School for the hearing impaired was a meaningful part of our time in Nandi County.

The interactions with learners, educators, and school leadership continued to reinforce the importance of inclusive learning environments where learners are not defined by limitations, but supported through opportunity, encouragement, and access to holistic support systems.

As programmes around life skills, mentorship, STEAM, and educational support continue to expand across counties, inclusion remains a critical part of building equitable learning environments for the future.

Turkana County offered another important perspective within our ongoing school engagement journey through direct interaction with schools, learners, and educators. These engagements continue to highlight both the strengths within learning environments and the gaps that shape access, continuity, and learner experience.

A consistent reminder across visits is that schools are not only spaces of learning, but also environments shaped by context, resources, and the support systems that influence how learners experience education on a daily basis.

Across all counties, the focus remains on strengthening more responsive and holistic support systems for learners. These insights continue to shape how programmes are refined and aligned more closely to the realities within schools and communities

Eight counties in, and one thing continues to stand out across every school and community we visit: the desire for education is strong, even where the challenges surrounding learners may differ greatly.

In Bomet County, our engagements continued through school visits, scholarship support, life skills conversations, STEAM discussions, and tree planting activities under the Chalan Forest initiative.

But beyond the activities themselves, these visits continue to deepen our understanding of what learners and schools truly need, not only access to education, but also support systems that strengthen confidence, resilience, wellbeing, and future readiness.

Each county continues to shape how we think about programmes, partnerships, and long-term impact, reminding us that meaningful solutions are built by listening closely to the communities we serve.

Nandi County holds a special place in the Chalan Foundation journey, it is where the work first began before expanding across other counties.

What began here has since expanded across counties, schools, and communities, but the heart of the work remains the same: supporting learners through approaches that recognize education, wellbeing, mentorship, and future readiness as deeply interconnected.

Each return continues to bring perspective, reflection, and renewed commitment to the work ahead.

Another county. More conversations that matter

Our school visits in Turkana County continued to reinforce the importance of community-responsive and learner-centered programming within schools.

Through direct interaction with learners, educators, and school leadership, the visits created opportunities to explore themes around life skills, educational support, and future readiness.

Each county continues to offer valuable insight into how holistic support systems can better respond to the evolving needs, realities, and aspirations of learners across different contexts.

Week two of our county engagement journey begins in Kajiado County.

At Kimana and Entarara Mixed Day Secondary Schools, the day unfolded through conversations, shared reflections, and meaningful interaction with both learners and school leadership.

What continues to emerge across schools is that educational support cannot exist in isolation. While access to education remains important, learners are also navigating different personal, social, and economic realities that directly shape their ability to remain engaged and resilient in school.

This is why conversations around life skills, mentorship continue to form an important part of our engagements alongside scholarship support, STEAM exposure, and tree planting under the Chalan Forest initiative.

The journey across counties continues to reinforce the importance of holistic support systems that respond to learners not just academically, but as whole individuals with potential, aspirations, and evolving needs.

The first stretch of our county engagements is complete across Bungoma, Homa Bay, West Pokot, and Kitui.

A period defined by presence in schools, engagement with stakeholders, and consistent conversations around education access, learner wellbeing, and future readiness.

Now, we move into the next set of counties, continuing the same work with new communities, new schools and new conversations.

The journey continues across all 10 counties.

Four counties in, and the journey continues.

Over the past engagements across Kitui, Bungoma, Homa Bay, and West Pokot counties, one thing has remained constant. The warmth, openness, and willingness of schools and communities to engage with us meaningfully.

While every county presents its own unique realities and challenges, the shared desire for education, opportunity, and a better future continues to stand out in conversations with learners, educators, and families alike.

These visits have also brought to life several areas of our work through life skills and mentorship engagements, scholarship support, conversations around future digital readiness through our STEAM programme, and environmental action through tree planting under the Chalan Forest initiative.

Beyond the activities themselves, this journey continues to reinforce the importance of listening closely, building collaboratively, and remaining responsive to the realities communities navigate every day.

We are grateful for the partnerships, conversations, and shared commitment that continue to shape this journey as we look ahead to the remaining counties in the weeks ahead.

A new week on the road and our county engagement journey continues in Kitui County.

Through school visits, scholarship awarding, and tree planting under the Chalan Forest initiative, our team continues engaging directly with learners, educators, and communities to better understand local realities and strengthen responsive, community-centered programming.

Each county engagement continues to provide valuable insights, strengthen partnerships, and reinforce the importance of collaborative investment in inclusive education, learner wellbeing, and sustainable futures.

As the journey continues across counties, so does our shared commitment to creating opportunities that are both impactful and long-term.

Our countywide school engagement journey continues in West Pokot County.

During these interactions, we had the privilege of awarding scholarships to selected learners from vulnerable backgrounds, as part of our broader commitment to supporting 500 learners across all counties, with 50 scholarships allocated per county.

Each award goes beyond access to education. It represents continuity, dignity, and the opportunity for learners to remain in school and pursue their future with greater stability and confidence.

West Pokot marks another meaningful step in this shared journey.
