🚀 Development, Piloting & Integration Phase of 4 Innovative VET Courses
The VET4Digital project is moving forward with the development, piloting and integration of four innovative VET courses, designed to strengthen digital skills and better respond to the evolving needs of learners and the labour market. 💻📚
This phase focuses on transforming identified skills needs into practical, relevant and innovative learning opportunities—from course development and piloting to integration into existing VET programmes.

STRENGTHENING WORK-BASED LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES
According to article published in The Kenya Journal of TVET, in 2022- Despite the significance and proven value attached to quality apprenticeship in combating unemployment and allowing smooth transition into the workplace, the apprenticeship in Kenya, particularly formal apprenticeship, is still underemployed. This is mainly due to the lack of a standard and comprehensive policy detailing how it can be effectively and optimally employed.
By strengthening partnerships between TVET institutions and employers, learners can gain hands-on experience, develop industry-relevant competencies, and build stronger pathways to employment.

Kenya's TVET sector plays a vital role in preparing young people for a changing labour market. According to Kiruli “Addressing the challenges facing Vocational Training Centres in Kenyan counties” - the VTC curriculum is outdated, and its syllabus was developed ages ago before even the establishment of Kenya’s Vision 2030, it’s a theory-based curriculum with no competency-based evaluation to speak off. Most courses being offered by our VTCs are not in touch with the skills needs of their immediate communities, VTCs train on skills not needed in the market or which their trainees can’t get jobs or are self-employed. That is why there is a strong need to show Kenyan TVET providers how to prepare study programs relevant to the needs of the labor market.
