Fighting dental fluorosis & spreading smiles through oral health education and dental care🦷

A day at the dental camp, seen through the eyes of one of our board members MC WAKILI

It was his first time joining us at a dental camp, and the experience gave him a firsthand look at the impact of bringing oral health education and dental care closer to young people.

From witnessing the students’ experiences to seeing the difference access to care can make, it was a day that left an impression.

Here’s to more opportunities to changing lives one smile at a time!

A new smile can change more than just a smile.

For one of our students, access to dental care brought renewed confidence, a better understanding of oral health, and a reason to encourage his friends to take better care of their teeth.

This was made possible through the support of Mama Maji- Dr. Wangeci and Kituku Mumo whose contribution helped us extend access to essential dental care and create a meaningful impact in the life of a young person.

A visit that made an impact.
Dr. Laura, a periodontist from Atlanta, joined us during our dental camp and spent time experiencing the work we’re doing to improve access to oral health education, preventive care and essential dental services for students.

In her own words, she shares what stood out to her about the day and the impact she witnessed through the camp.
We’re grateful for her support, encouragement and belief in the work we’re doing. We hope to welcome her back again soon.

What makes you smile?

We asked, and our learners had plenty to say.
From friends and family to good food, music, jokes and the little moments that make a day better, our What Makes You Smile? station was a reminder that sometimes, it’s the simplest things that bring the biggest smiles.

And that’s exactly what we want to keep creating: more healthy smiles, more confidence, and more reasons to smile.

From an empty lab to a space for healthier smiles.

As part of our Treatment pillar, we transformed a school lab into a dental cleaning unit, bringing essential oral healthcare closer to learners.

With dental cleanings, screening and care taking place right here at school, we’re making access to oral healthcare a little more within reach.

Through our brushing calendars, we’re helping younger learners make daily oral care a simple and consistent habit. Small, everyday practices can play an important role in preventing oral health problems and giving children the knowledge and confidence to care for their smiles as they grow.
