Imagine giving birth and having no where to take your newborn💔💔
I cant imagine the state of confusion and exhaustion this mama and many others go through on the streets. This call left me wondering, we just took in more than 25 dogs fron the demolition, this are 12 more incoming will we even manage😢? But the video sent was just heartbreaking, a vulnerable mum and newborns with nowhere to go. Now a new small shelter build barely weeks before is full before it even takes shape

To those people who argue and say spay and neuter is messing with nature, is this the nature you talk about? Look at how tired and thirsty she was but she cant even step out becaise she knows she might not find her family alive. To those who argue that if we spay and neuter we wont have dogs and cats in the future? Since when? Where are we taking the existing ones? Have we even managed to care for them?

Spay and Neuter is one of the ways to reduce cruelty as more animals dont have to suffer. She is safe for now with us and you can drop a bag off food or a gift for her and puppies. Her name is Amelia btw😍

Shelter Contruction Update

So far, we have been able to clear the land, fence the entire property, build a small house for the caretaker, build a bathroom and toilet, get electricity installed and wiring connection done, build the kennel bone and only completed 4 kennels at the moment. We had build the kennel bone for 10 kennels so 6 more are still not complete. We have not started on the cattery, we dont have a store for our food so delivering food daily from the main shelter, we dont have water yet. Phase 1 has already stalled but we are grateful that they even have somewhere to call home, most of them are used to the raw ground so only the 4 mums we have are sleeping in the kennels and everyone else under the kennels. To complete the kennels we still need, more timber,more mesh, labour, beds etc. The weather is starting to change and we are hoping to finish construction before the week ends. Did you know per foot of timber is ksh30, a kilo of nails is just ksh 200? Did you know that a mabati is ksh 800? A cement bag ksh 830? A heavy gauge mesh ksh 950? This is to show you that every coin matters, if 250 people donate 500 we can complete the kennels and cattery by end of week.

Meet Bahati. We rescued him from the bushes in Lucky Summer he used to call home. This poor pup was starving and suffering from severe Flea Allergy Dermatitis, leaving his skin raw, red, and mostly bald from constant scratching.

These brave animals survived heavy machinery destroying what they used to call home😓. They were left in a vulnerable position until we stepped in to rescue them. Every donated iron sheet, bag of food, and any amount brings us one step closer to finishing their sanctuary.

DEMOLITION RESCUE UPDATE😢😢😢

Its been 2 weeks now of trapping the animals that were left homeless after the village demolition. We rescued this white with more than one injury on friday morning. Around 6-10 more dogs are still there and we are still feeding them every other day to get them to come close to us for trapping. Almost all are wounded because of fighting for survival over every little scrap of food they get. They have no shade or shelter except in the bushes which is where they are battling the cold nights💔💔. So far we have rescued a total of 32 animals, 14 adult dogs, 9 puppies, 5 adult cats and 4 kittens.

​We are soldiering on and refusing to give up on the ones left behind, but our resources are stretched to the limit. We urgently need your help to keep going, whether through donations, supplies, food or sharing our story widely. Please stand with us as we get this angels to safety.😓

Bob the cat was rescued near the demolition site on thursday. He was skin and bones, really malnourished and very weak. We rushed him to the vet and on the way there he just slept through. He was not eating at all and had a faint look in his eyes. His tests indicated that he had a very severe infection and heavy infestation of worms. After treatment and deworming, he started licking his food and by evening he ate quite well, he is super friendly and cuddly and we would love if he got a home ASAP.

SECONDS FROM TRAGEDY. TIMELY RESCUE

​During our emergency rescue operation at the demolition site in city park, we witnessed something we will never forget.

​While heavy excavators were tearing down the land, a terrified mama dog had burrowed deep into the dirt, trying to create a safe space to give birth. The legs had already started coming out but we picked her so that we move her away from danger. We inspected the hole she had dug and made sure there were no puppies. She was literally seconds away from being buried alive under the rubble. Thankfully, the NSSA team was on site at that exact moment. We spotted her, pulled her out of the burrow just in time, and rushed her into our car.

​The shock and relief were overwhelming,minutes later, right there in our car she brought a beautiful, healthy miracle puppy into the world! 🥹❤️

​While this brave mama and her newborn are now safe, so many other animals that we also rescued from the demolition site still need our help. We are working around the clock to rescue the remaining strays and build a safe sanctuary for all of them, but we cannot do it alone.

🚨 EMERGENCY RESCUE APPEAL: 40+ Animals Displaced by Village Demolition 🚨
​Two weeks ago, a local village was demolished, leaving over 40 dogs and cats stranded, injured, and without food. With talks of culling/poisoning on the horizon, we couldn't stand by and watch. 💔
​As NSSA, we immediately stepped in, feeding them daily and taking injured animals to the vet. It has been heartbreaking waking up each day to find dogs limping from "out of nowhere" or mother dogs grieving lost puppies and vice versa. We knew there was only one way to save their lives, we had to get them all out.

A kind-hearted landlord offered us a small piece of land rent-free for one month while we work to secure a permanent settlement.
Thanks to two amazing donors, we cleared the plot and fenced a small section to keep the animals secure.
​ The Ongoing Battle

Since Monday, we have safely evacuated 27 animals an d about 8 to 10 animals are still left at the demolition site. They are deeply traumatized by backhoes, heavy machinery and always scared of our car.
Paying for all their boarding fee as the kennels are not ready.
Rescuing while smoke fills the air, we are risking to get them out and they also walk far to get away from the smoke.
Cats are taking shelter high in trees, and dogs are hiding inside deep bushy fences but we are going back every single day until every last one is safe.

How evil do you have to be to chop a dogs legs? A voiceless being whose only crime is to exist? Both legs? This poor girl is very friendly but was in a lot of pain when we found her last Saturday. One leg had even healed on its own and the other leg was still a fresh wound bone left exposed. He will be having surgery to amputate it and will be on a wheelchair. She is very jovial but you can see it in her eyes how much pain she is feeling.
