A girl’s period should never be a reason for her to sit out, stay silent, or leave sports altogether.

This World Menstrual Hygiene Day, we are calling for sports spaces that are safer, more informed, and more inclusive for girls.

Destigmatizing menstruation in sports starts with open conversations, supportive coaches, access to menstrual hygiene products, and environments where girls can participate confidently every day of the month.

Because inclusion in sports is not just about giving girls a chance to play - it is about removing the barriers that stop them from staying.

The success of the FIFA Women’s Series in Kenya was more than just a tournament - it was a statement.

A statement that women’s football deserves the stage. That Kenya can host at a global level. And that young girls can finally see what’s possible.

If we want this moment to matter, we need real investment in grassroots football, stronger support systems, and long-term commitment from all stakeholders.

Momentum fades. What we build next is what counts.

Here's to each of us doing our part for sustained growth.

While women's sports in Kenya are growing, making up 45% of the Kenyan team at the Summer Olympics in France in 2024, actual local participation remains low within our counties.

The journey to equality in Kenyan sports has begun, but the pace is slow as barriers still persist.

Cultural stereotypes and limited funding should not be allowed to dictate a girl's potential.

Kenya is set to host its first FIFA global football event from 11th to 15th April, 2026.

Better yet, Harambee Starlets, Kenya's national female football team, will be one of the teams taking on India in its opening matches.

This is a commendable milestone, not only for Kenya as a hosting nation but also for the recognition of women's sports within the country.

If anyone asks, Talentspring Foundation will be supporting Harambee Starlets at Nyayo Stadium. Will you?

As we mark the International Day of Education today, we at Talentspring Foundation recognize that formal education pathways alone are not enough to grow a learner into a holistic adult.

As such, we continue to advocate for a learning environment where the school and community work together and adopt multiple complementary pathways that recognize the power of talent, including but not limited to the academic track, the vocational track, the entrepreneurship track and the apprenticeship track.

In line with this year's theme, we acknowledge that the young people are and should be considered active players in shaping the future of learning, hence the design of our learner-centered initiatives.

What happens when talent meets opportunity?

Last Saturday, we held our first edition of the Back to School Tournament at Muguga Green Primary School in Nairobi.

In partnership with Deca Foundation and Kangemi Outreach Ministries, all participating players were provided with stationery (exercise books, pens and pencils), along with trophies, medals and certificates for the best performers.

As the ball kicked up dust all across the pitch, the young athletes reminded us of the need to nurture talent for the betterment of our society.

Here's to wishing our children all the best as schools all across the country resume this week.
