Strengthened implementation capacities for stronger climate adaptation across Nigeria 🇳🇬🌱

Throwback to UNOPS West Africa Multi-Country Office mission to 📍Kano, Nigeria, where we delivered an intensive three-day capacity-building programme for the Federal Project Management Unit (FPMU) and State Project Implementation Units (SPIUs).

~ 3️⃣0️⃣0️⃣ representatives from both the FPMU and the SPIUs trained + 97% average satisfaction rate across all sessions
6 specialised trainings on communications, HR and administration, Audit, GIS, ICT and MIS, GBV and GRM.

💡 Since the project launch, ~ 1️⃣2️⃣0️⃣0️⃣ participants in total benefited from 12 training and capacity-building activities delivered by UNOPS as part of our support to the NEWMAP-EiB project.

Strengthening partnerships to advance sustainable energy access in Zambia! 🇿🇲

UNOPS is working closely with the Rural Electrification Authority to explore opportunities for collaboration in advancing resilient, climate-smart infrastructure and bringing the benefits of electrification to communities across Zambia.

This morning, REA Chief Executive Officer, Eng. Alex Mbumba, met with Kelly McAulay, (acting) Director of the East and Southern Africa Multi-Country Office at the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) to discuss shared priorities for advancing Zambia’s national electrification goals.

The dialogue focused on strengthening collaboration around resilient, climate-smart energy infrastructure and expanding access to reliable electricity for rural households, communities and businesses.

The engagement reaffirmed the shared commitment of REA and UNOPS to supporting Zambia’s efforts to achieve inclusive and sustainable energy access, while ensuring that rural communities can benefit from the opportunities that electrification brings.

Strong partnerships are key to turning Zambia’s electrification ambitions into lasting impact!

UNOPS and KfW Development Bank KfW Bankengruppe have signed a EUR 16.6 million financing agreement, funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development through , to implement the Sustainable Land Management in Puntland (SLM-P) project.

As the Project Executing Agency, UNOPS provides implementation support through project management, fiduciary oversight, procurement, and infrastructure delivery to build long-term community resilience.
