Ms. Jean from PACEM who were prepresentating EAC MH EAC Mental Health Network sharing insights on advocacy and the vital role of community engagement during the session at Mental Health conference in Nigeria. We went through challenges and practical recommendations from short, mid, and long ter and sparking valuable discussions.

Grateful for the appreciation from participants, and looking forward to strengthening collaboration across EAC countries as we build a stronger advocacy network.

Crude su***de rate: - 6.1 per 100,000 population

Age-standardized su***de rate: - 11.0 per 100,000 population

This translates to roughly four su***de deaths per day across the country

🇹🇿 Tanzania

No verified 2023/24 national figures publicly released.

Past estimates (circa 2021–2022) place age‑standardized rates around 8–11 per 100,000, within the medium range for East Africa .

National surveillance remains weak, and cases of underreporting persist.

🇺🇬 Uganda / 🇷🇼 Rwanda / 🇧🇯 Burundi / 🇪🇹 Ethiopia / 🇸🇴 Somalia
