Official Notice: Clarification on the 2026 Avocado Export Season

AEAK addresses ongoing misinformation regarding the 2026 avocado export season.

Stakeholders are advised to rely only on verified information and allow the regulator time to communicate the official position.

All industry players are encouraged to exercise caution and avoid spreading unverified information that may disrupt the market or misinform farmers.

As the sea export season for avocados reopens, Kenya remains a key supplier, with access to global markets through the Port of Mombasa.

However, current geopolitical developments in the Middle East, including disruptions affecting transit through the Suez Canal, present emerging logistical challenges for exporters.

Extended transit timelines from East Africa are likely to impact shipment duration, which may affect arrival quality for this highly perishable commodity.

At the same time, prolonged dry conditions experienced earlier in the year contributed to increased pressure from Persea mites, affecting avocado tree productivity during the March - May season.

With the recent onset of rains, recovery is expected in the July - September season, supporting improved production outlooks.
