Today, Biotisho Kilimanjaro CBO proudly trained a passionate team of enumerators who will soon begin a CLTS feasibility assessment survey across Amboseli and Imbirikani locations. Prior to the training, Biotisho Kilimanjaro CBO engaged key stakeholders, including the Ministry of Health (MOH) and the National Government Administration Officers (NGAO), to ensure effective planning, coordination, and community entry.

From the pastoralist homesteads neighboring the iconic Amboseli National Park to the most remote villages, the team will work to understand how families access safe water, practice hygiene, use sanitation facilities, and the challenges they face every day. The survey will involve random household data collection through transect walks, focus group discussions and key informant interviews.

What makes this journey unique is that every enumerator will be accompanied by a Community Health Promoter (CHP). Our CHPs are trusted members of the communities they serve. Their local knowledge, strong relationships and understanding of the culture help ensure that every conversation is respectful, meaningful, and inclusive. They are the heart of our programs and the foundation of our sustainability approach, ensuring that community ownership remains at the center of every intervention.

This survey is more than data collection—it is about listening, learning and planning together with communities. The findings will enable Biotisho Kilimanjaro CBO to design evidence-based WASH interventions, strengthen advocacy, build strategic partnerships, mobilize resources and support communities with sustainable solutions that improve health and dignity.

Every household visited, every story shared and every voice heard brings us one step closer to a future where everyone has access to safe water, improved sanitation, and better hygiene.

Today, Our team paid a courtesy visit to the Water Resources Authority (WRA) Nolturesh-Lumi Regional Office in Loitokitok.

The visit provided a valuable opportunity to learn more about WRA's mandate in water resources management and explore areas for future collaboration.

We had an insightful discussion on the important role of Water Resource Users Associations (WRUAs) as the grassroots structures for protecting and managing water resources.

Biotisho Kilimanjaro CBO looks forward to joining the WRUA as a member and working closely with WRUA committees to develop sustainable strategies for preventing water pollution upstream and ensuring safe, clean water for communities downstream. As a WASH-focused organization, Biotisho remains committed to building strong partnerships that promote hygiene, protect water sources, prevent pollution and empower communities to take an active role in safeguarding their health and environment.

We were privileged to host officers from the Water Resources Authority (WRA), World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) and Citizen Scientists Network at our Biotisho Kilimanjaro CBO office today. The visit provided a valuable opportunity to discuss water resource conservation, environmental sustainability and the power of partnerships in creating lasting community impact.
Together, we explored ways to reduce water pollution, improve access to clean and safe water and protect water sources for present and future generations.

At Biotisho Kilimanjaro CBO, one of our key priorities is to improve access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene through community education, advocacy and collaboration with stakeholders.
We are committed to influencing policies that safeguard water resources, promote environmental sustainability and support resilient communities.

For years, the children of Olepolos ECD walked to school without something many take for granted, a safe, dignified place to use, the toilet.

It was more than an inconvenience, it was a barrier to health, attendance, and even the school’s future. That changed when Biotisho, together with friends and the local community, came together to construct a pit latrine.

What may seem like a simple structure has transformed everything. The school is now officially registered, something that was not possible before due to the lack of this essential facility. Children can learn with dignity, teachers can teach with confidence and parents feel reassured about their children’s safety and wellbeing. This is the power of small, practical solutions.

While we celebrate this milestone, we also recognize the journey ahead. Due to limited resources, the current structure is temporary.
We dream of building a permanent, sustainable facility that will serve generations to come.

Biotisho Kilimanjaro led an action day activity at Isinet Health Center in partnership with area Community Health Promoters (CHPs), the facility Community Health Assistant (CHA), and healthcare providers in an effort to clear bushes and tall grass around the hospital and reduce mosquito breeding zones.

With a shared commitment to prevent malaria during the rainy season, the team worked together to slash overgrown vegetation, clear the compound, and eliminate potential breeding areas.

Healthcare providers guided safe sanitation practices, while Biotisho Kilimanjaro engaged the community on hygiene, environmental cleanliness, and Malaria prevention.

The activity not only improved the safety and cleanliness of the facility but also strengthened collaboration between the health system and the community.

It highlighted the importance of collective action in creating healthier environments and preventing diseases.

At Biotisho Kilimanjaro Organization, we believe the future of our communities is only guaranteed when our children are safe, healthy, and given the opportunity to thrive. We are committed to transforming our community into one where healthy living, dignity, and hope define everyday life.

Today we took another step toward that vision by deworming 125 children in two ECD schools, helping protect them from parasitic infections and giving them a better chance to grow, learn, and succeed. We are also grateful to Dandelion Africa for taking time to visit us and assess the work we are doing in the community.

With more support, we can make an even greater impact breaking health barriers that often translate into poverty. We warmly call upon more partners, donors, and well-wishers to join us in transforming our communities.
