For years, the children of Olepolos ECD walked to school without something many take for granted, a safe, dignified place to use, the toilet.

It was more than an inconvenience, it was a barrier to health, attendance, and even the school’s future. That changed when Biotisho, together with friends and the local community, came together to construct a pit latrine.

What may seem like a simple structure has transformed everything. The school is now officially registered, something that was not possible before due to the lack of this essential facility. Children can learn with dignity, teachers can teach with confidence and parents feel reassured about their children’s safety and wellbeing. This is the power of small, practical solutions.

While we celebrate this milestone, we also recognize the journey ahead. Due to limited resources, the current structure is temporary.
We dream of building a permanent, sustainable facility that will serve generations to come.

We invite partners, well-wishers, and friends to join Biotisho Kilimanjaro CBO in strengthening community sanitation and creating lasting change for our children. Because every child deserves a safe place to learn, grow, and thrive.

Biotisho Kilimanjaro led an action day activity at Isinet Health Center in partnership with area Community Health Promoters (CHPs), the facility Community Health Assistant (CHA), and healthcare providers in an effort to clear bushes and tall grass around the hospital and reduce mosquito breeding zones.

With a shared commitment to prevent malaria during the rainy season, the team worked together to slash overgrown vegetation, clear the compound, and eliminate potential breeding areas.

Healthcare providers guided safe sanitation practices, while Biotisho Kilimanjaro engaged the community on hygiene, environmental cleanliness, and Malaria prevention.

The activity not only improved the safety and cleanliness of the facility but also strengthened collaboration between the health system and the community.

It highlighted the importance of collective action in creating healthier environments and preventing diseases.

At Biotisho Kilimanjaro Organization, we believe the future of our communities is only guaranteed when our children are safe, healthy, and given the opportunity to thrive. We are committed to transforming our community into one where healthy living, dignity, and hope define everyday life.

Today we took another step toward that vision by deworming 125 children in two ECD schools, helping protect them from parasitic infections and giving them a better chance to grow, learn, and succeed. We are also grateful to Dandelion Africa for taking time to visit us and assess the work we are doing in the community.

With more support, we can make an even greater impact breaking health barriers that often translate into poverty. We warmly call upon more partners, donors, and well-wishers to join us in transforming our communities.

Driven by our determination to help our people live a dignified life, we took our humanitarian work to the local communities to create awareness on the importance of eradicating open defecation and promoting proper hygiene practices.

Through community sensitization, we emphasized how safe sanitation and good hygiene directly contribute to better health, dignity, and overall well-being.

This initiative reflects our mission to ensure that everyone, regardless of their background or location, can live a quality life in a clean, safe, and healthy environment.

Today, we donated Vitamin A supplements and dewormers to Dandelion Medical Center, Kilimanjaro. This initiative aims to improve child health by reducing parasitic infections and preventing Vitamin A deficiency, which are major contributors to poor growth and weakened immunity among children. Through this support, we continue to strengthen preventive healthcare and promote healthier communities.

*WHEN WE SAY THE WATER IS BEING POLLUTED UPSTREAMS, THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT WE MEAN!*

*Enkong'u oo Sinet" (Isinet spring* ) is the main reliable source of water in *Imbirikani or generally in Imbirikani/Eselenkei ward.*

The water flows all the way from Isinet (spring) to Orbili nearly 70 kilometers from the source.

Drinking from the river are both human and animals both wild and Domestic. Communities from *Enkong'u, Isinet, parts of Kimana, Kalesirua, Enkaji Naiborr, Naarr Enkolong, Olmapitet, Ilchalai, Orbili, Kuku and the upper belt of Chyulu Hills are the main beneficiaries of this scars resource.* Its crystal-clear waters quenched the thirst of the village, nourished their crops, and sustained their livestock.

But progress brought changes . Generators are spewing oil into the river, farmers are washing insecticides into its flow, and women dirty linens are turning the water murky. The once-vibrant river is growing cloudy and still .

Now, the villagers are fearing the water they'd once trusted. The community is staring out at the outbreak of waterborne diseases and lifestyle diseases like cancer if this mess isn't corrected as soon as possible.

The menace has existed for years and attempts to correct it, has always been thwarted by *cartels* who are earning money from the large scale farmers while putting thousands of people at risk!

Back in 2024 February, all the generators were varied by National Government officials, County Government officials and WARMA officials. According to a community member who requested aninomity, the way the generators got back to river isn't known or maybe only known by *CARTELS.*

It is 2026 and the same has repeated it self. All the generators pumping water more than 10km to the farms and spilling engine oil into the water have been collected and transpoeted today to the big offices.

We are waiting to see how these generators will get back to the river without proper planing or linsencing considering what made them taken in the first place.

In a meeting organized by Biotisho Kilimanjaro and attended by Aid Foundation Kenya, we conducted community education on good hygiene practices. The session focused on creating awareness around proper handwashing techniques, access to clean water, environmental cleanliness, and other related topics.
During the meeting, Rural Aid Foundation Kenya, through Biotisho Kilimanjaro, offered sponsorship to 67 secondary school students and 45 college students.
Biotisho Kilimanjaro continues to foster partnerships with like-minded organizations in our efforts to uplift communities and eradicate poverty.
We are also pleased to report a partnership with Vitamin Angels, which has resulted in the donation of ABZ and Vitamin A supplements. We are deeply grateful to Vitamin Angels for the in-kind support, which will go a long way in helping Biotisho achieve its targets.
