HOPE on FEET CBO

Yesterday was a meaningful and fulfilling day. I had the opportunity to facilitate awareness and sensitization session at Ruai Health Centre (Level 3), in partnership with Online Voices and Being Africa through the Mwanga wa Jamii Campaign.
We sensitized over 15 committed Community Health promoters and other health providers at Ruai 💪🏾 individuals who continue to play a vital role in connecting communities to life-saving information and services.
Our discussions focused on breast, cervical, and childhood cancers, with emphasis on prevention, early screening, and timely care. The engagement and enthusiasm in the room were truly encouraging, and it was inspiring to see the passion these CHPs have for serving their communities.
I’m thankful for the chance to contribute, share experiences, and learn together. Every session like this brings us one step closer to a more informed and healthier community. 💙 🩷

Today afternoon we HOPE ON FEET held a very interactive cancer awareness and sensitization session in Dandora, in support of Kilelehealthke and Goshen outreach church Dandora
The meeting brought together pastors, community elders, Community Health Promoters (CHPs), caregivers, and cancer survivors. It was an afternoon full of learning and meaningful discussions on cervical cancer prevention, treatment, and management.
We also created awareness on other types of cancers, helping to enlighten the community and break myths surrounding cancer. The engagement was very encouraging, with participants actively asking questions and sharing experiences.
The community expressed great appreciation for the knowledge and insights gained, and we remain committed to continuing these conversations and empowering more people with life-saving information.
Together, we can prevent cancer through awareness, early screening, and support. 💜🎗️

Today we held our regular meeting, which we conduct twice a month at mama lucy hospital together with Jidhamini Dada

During our discussion, one of the main concerns raised by patients was how some doctors communicate cancer diagnoses in a manner that can be very harsh, leaving patients devastated and emotionally overwhelmed.

As we reflected on this, we realized that most doctors are primarily trained to treat patients physically, and there remains a significant gap in psychosocial support and mental wellness services.

As KENCO members we recognize the urgent need to advocate for the inclusion of mental health practitioners in every hospital. This would ensure that patients receive proper counselling and emotional support before and after receiving such difficult news.

Together, let us continue to champion compassionate and holistic healthcare that nurtures both the body and the mind. 💚

Today I was honoured to represent HOPE on FEET CBO at The The Edge Convention Centre during the 2nd National cancer summit under the theme " uniting our voices and taking action" which was hosted by National Cancer Institute of Kenya invited by Kenya Network of Cancer Organisations we are a member organizations of kenco

The convention brought together key stake holders and policy makers in the medical field
Among the key note speakers were cabinet secretary for health Aden Duale and prime cabinet secretary musalia mudavadi who talked about early vaccination,screening and treatment they emphasised also on system strengthening and availability of cancer treatment in hospitals

Among the invited dignitaries were cancer survivors and caregivers who actually advocate for early diagnosis and timely treatment proving that they are the products of early diagnosis and treatment

Cancer is not a death sentence
