The Good Vision team, led by Country Director Benson Ngure, paid a courtesy visit to Deputy Governor H.E. Christine Kilalo, followed by an inspection tour of the tele-refraction unit at Mwatate Subcounty Hospital. Also in attendance were Head of Optics Diana Langat and Business Development Manager James Mwangi.

The rollout of the tele-refraction unit has expanded access to affordable, specialized eye care services for residents of Mwatate. Early outcomes indicate improved detection and management of common eye conditions, including cataracts, and a reduction in preventable visual impairment.

Speaking during the visit, Deputy Governor H.E. Christine Kilalo, who also serves as CEC for Health Services, reaffirmed the county government’s commitment to strengthening strategic partnerships that advance equitable access to quality healthcare.

“Under the leadership of H.E. the Governor, we reaffirm our commitment to partner with Good Vision to further strengthen access to quality and inclusive health services across the region,” she stated.

Country Director Benson Ngure noted that the partnership has facilitated the delivery of essential eye care services, including screenings and provision of prescription glasses, thereby reducing barriers to access and minimizing the need for patients to seek care outside the county.

This initiative represents a significant step toward advancing inclusive, accessible, and sustainable eye health services for all.

Did you know your eyes can reveal signs of high blood pressure?

Before we even begin your eye examination at our camps, we first check your blood pressure because the health of your eyes is closely linked to the health of your blood vessels.

High blood pressure can quietly damage the tiny vessels in your eyes, leading to a condition called hypertensive retinopathy. The concerning part? It often has no symptoms in the early stages.

A simple blood pressure check can help detect risks early, protect your vision, and even prevent serious health complications.

So the next time you visit our eye camp and we start with a blood pressure check, know that it’s not just a step it’s part of caring for your overall health.

Your eyes can tell a bigger story. We’re here to help you read it.

At Gitunduti Primary School, Mugutu, Mathira Constituency in Nyeri County, our eye camp was more than just a medical outreach it was a reminder of why we go where others rarely do.

In many interior parts of Kenya, access to optical services remains limited or completely out of reach. For many, clear vision is not a given, it’s a luxury. We met two women whose daily lives had quietly been limited by their vision.

One struggled to read anything on her phone, bible messages, numbers, even simple texts had become a strain. The other had slowly stopped stepping out of her home because the sunlight was too harsh on her eyes, making it uncomfortable to move around during the day or go to the farm.

These are the realities many people face in interior communities, where access to optical care is limited or often overlooked.

During our eye camp, both women received the care they needed. With the right support, reading glasses for one, and protective eyewear for the other their confidence began to return. In that moment, something as simple as using a phone or stepping outside became possible again.

This is why GoodVision Kenya continues to go where the need is greatest bringing eye care closer to communities that are often left behind.

Because clear vision isn’t a luxury. It’s a necessity.
One story, one person, one community at a time.

When Pastor James visited our medical camp at Consolata Mission Hospital, he shared how the words in small print had become blurry and sermon preparation was no longer as easy as it used to be.

He was experiencing Presbyopia, a common age-related change that makes it difficult to see things up close.

The good news? It’s easily corrected.

After a simple eye screening and receiving glasses, everything changed.

Today, Pastor James is back to reading clearly, preparing his sermons with ease, and fully engaging with his congregation once again.

Sometimes, restoring sight is also about restoring confidence, independence, and purpose.

👉 What would clearer vision change in your life?

If you or someone you know is experiencing similar symptoms, visit our next eye camp or nearest outreach. Early screening can make all the difference.

Partnerships remain at the heart of expanding access to essential health services.

GoodVision Kenya was honoured to be invited by Consolata Mission Hospital to participate in a one-day medical outreach in Murang'a County, bringing critical eye care services closer to the community.

Within a single day, 323 individuals were screened, and over 80 pairs of eyeglasses were dispensed supporting improved vision, productivity, and overall quality of life.

This collaboration highlights the power of strategic partnerships in strengthening service delivery enabling organizations to extend reach, respond to community needs, and deliver timely, impactful interventions.

As a eye care provider, GoodVision Kenya remains committed and equipped to travel across Kenya, ensuring that quality optical services reach even the most remote communities.

Because sustainable impact is achieved through collaboration.

What happens when donor commitment meets community trust? Real, life-changing impact.

In Kiambu County, many individuals live with poor vision, not because solutions don’t exist, but because eye care is often deprioritized in the face of daily needs.

Through the generous support of Stephen Thagwa, a native of Kiambu now residing in Germany, and in partnership with the Women Self-Help Group, we brought essential eye care services directly to the community.

Across five outreach camps, 500+ people received eyeglasses, many for the first time.

One beneficiary shared:

“I didn’t know how much I was missing. I can see clearly now… even the small things. This will change how I work, how I live.”

This is the true value of donor relationships.

When donors stay connected to their communities and partner with local groups, impact goes beyond numbers it becomes personal, sustainable, and deeply transformative.

We are proud to work alongside partners who are not only investing in programs, but in people.
