Two days of reflection, accountability and renewed commitment to making health a right for every Kenyan. 🇰🇪

The inaugural Kenya Health Summit 2026, held at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC), brought together national and county leaders, health professionals, development partners, civil society, communities and other stakeholders to take stock of Kenya’s health reforms and chart the path towards Universal Health Coverage beyond 2030.

Under the theme “Reforms Delivered: Health as a Right,” the Summit spotlighted progress in Social Health Authority coverage, primary and community health care, digital health, health financing, medicines and health infrastructure, while also confronting the challenges that remain, from workforce gaps and access to quality care to seamless digital systems and faster claims processing.

With 107,831 Community Health Promoters reaching 9.42 million households, more than 32 million Kenyans registered with SHA, and 91.9% of public health facilities using digital systems, the conversation is increasingly about turning reforms into tangible, equitable and sustainable health outcomes for every person, in every county.

The message is clear: health as a right must translate into quality, affordable and accessible care, leaving no one behind.

Today in Kilifi, young people from across the Pwani Region are coming together to shape a new chapter for Kenya’s agrifood systems.

The Kenya Youth in Agrifood Systems is now a movement, bringing together young people, policymakers, practitioners, private sector actors and other stakeholders to move beyond conversations and towards collective action, shared priorities and meaningful commitments.

At the Pwani Region Youth in Agrifood Systems Dialogue, we are mapping the realities of our region, examining the policies that shape youth participation, identifying priorities and building commitments for a more inclusive, resilient and youth-driven agrifood system.

This is more than a dialogue.
It is a call to action.
It is a space for young people to lead.
It is a movement for the future of Kenya’s food systems. 🇰🇪

Breastfeeding is not only a nutrition issue, It is a food systems issue, a climate issue, and a resilience issue.

In a world facing climate shocks, water scarcity, displacement, and rising food insecurity, breastfeeding remains one of the most sustainable and reliable ways to nourish an infant.

It requires no packaging, no transport, no fuel for preparation, and no dependence on unsafe water.

That is why breastfeeding should be recognized as climate-resilient infant food security.

As we mark World Breastfeeding month 2026, we must move beyond awareness and invest in systems that protect, promote, and support breastfeeding especially during emergencies and in communities most affected by climate change.

Strengthening breastfeeding support is not only an investment in child survival and maternal health it is an investment in stronger, more resilient food systems for the future.

If we are serious about climate adaptation, nutrition security, and sustainable development, breastfeeding must be part of the conversation.

Farmers at the Centre. Voices at the Table. Transformation in Action.

Africa’s agrifood future cannot be designed without the people who feed it.

Today in Nairobi, the EAFF Regional Workshop on CAADP Kampala Declaration Implementation and Climate Change Processes brings together farmer organizations, policymakers, development partners, youth, the private sector and other key stakeholders to turn commitments into action.

As Africa advances the CAADP Kampala Declaration and Strategy 2026–2035, the message is clear: farmers must not be spectators to agricultural transformation, they must be co-creators of it.

From resilient food systems and food and nutrition security to climate adaptation, investment and inclusive policies, the decisions being made today will shape the future of millions of farmers across the continent.

When farmers have a seat at the table, policies become grounded in reality. When their voices shape investment, transformation becomes meaningful.

The future of Africa’s food systems starts with putting farmers at the centre.

A roadmap for better nutrition begins with bold collaboration.

The successful completion of the Kiambu County Nutrition Action Plan (CNAP) 2nd Generation Development Workshop marks a significant milestone in advancing nutrition governance and accelerating action towards improved nutrition outcomes for the people of Kiambu County.

Bringing together county leaders, technical experts, development partners and nutrition stakeholders, the workshop transformed ideas into a clear, evidence-informed and actionable roadmap that will guide nutrition programming and investment in the years ahead.

As SUN Civil Society Alliance Kenya (SUN CSA Kenya), alongside TISA and Welthungerhilfe (WHH), we are honoured to have supported this important process. We also extend our sincere appreciation to the consultant for expertly guiding the workshop with exceptional professionalism, technical expertise and unwavering commitment, ensuring a participatory and impactful planning process.
