✊🏾 SOLIDARITY STATEMENT ✊🏾

The Digital Boda Driver And Deliveries Association l and the Digital Boda Drivers and Deliveries Union (DBDDU)warmly welcome the adoption of the international convention in UN Geneva concerning the rights and protection of platform workers.

This is a historic milestone for digital riders and drivers around the world. It recognizes the vital role played by those who earn a living through digital platforms and reinforces the need to uphold their rights to decent work, fair remuneration, social protection, occupational safety and health, freedom of association, and effective dispute resolution mechanisms.

For years, digital riders and drivers have faced numerous challenges, including unfair deactivations, insecurity of income, inadequate social protection, and limited opportunities for collective representation. The adoption of this convention sends a powerful message that the future of work must be built on dignity, fairness, inclusion, and social justice.

We commend the workers' representatives, trade unions, governments, employers, and all stakeholders whose commitment and solidarity made this achievement possible. Their efforts have brought hope to millions of platform workers seeking recognition and protection.

As the Digital Boda Drivers and Deliveries Association of Kenya (DBDDAK) and the Digital Boda Drivers and Deliveries Union (DBDDU), we call upon the Government of Kenya to take the necessary steps towards the ratification, domestication, and implementation of this convention. Its principles should be integrated into national laws, policies, and regulations to guarantee that digital riders and drivers in Kenya enjoy meaningful protection, fair working conditions, social security, and access to justice.

The domestication of these international labour standards will be a significant step towards creating a more equitable and sustainable platform economy in Kenya, where innovation goes hand in hand with workers' rights and dignity.

We will not tire in advocacy until every digital rider and driver can work with dignity, safety, and fairness.

✊🏾 An injury to one is an injury to all.
✊🏾 Workers united shall never be defeated.

In solidarity. ❤️ NO COMRADE SHOULD EVER FEEL ABANDONED ❤️

Today, at Wangige Level 4 Hospital in Kiambu County, we witnessed the true meaning of brotherhood, compassion, and unity.

On behalf of the leadership of the Digital Boda Drivers and Deliveries Association of Kenya (DBDDAK)*, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to every member who stood with our brother, John Rubenyo Gurunyei, during his hospitalization.

To those who contributed financially—regardless of the amount—and to those who took their time to visit, encourage, pray with him, and remind him that he was not alone, thank you. Your acts of kindness demonstrated that Digital Boda is more than an association; it is a family.

There was a moment that touched us deeply.

As Brother Gurunyei lay in his hospital bed, his Digital Boda reflector was hanging right next to his pillow. When we asked him why he had placed it there, he responded with words that will remain in our hearts forever:

> *"Whoever comes to this hospital should know that I am from Digital Boda. Secondly, the Digital Boda Drivers and Deliveries Association is in my heart."*

Those were not ordinary words.

They were the words of a man who has found belonging.
The words of a comrade who knows that he is loved.
The words of someone who understands that being part of Digital Boda means *never walking alone*.

Even in pain, even in a hospital bed, his identity as a Digital Boda comrade remained close to his heart.

Comrades, this is the spirit we must protect and nurture. Let us continue to stand with one another in times of sickness, loss, accidents, and hardship. Let us visit each other, comfort each other, and lift each other up. Let us restore homes, strengthen friendships, and foster the unity that makes our association strong.

No comrade should ever feel abandoned. Today, at Wangige Level 4 Hospital, we proved that when one of us hurts, all of us respond with love. ❤️

To everyone who showed kindness to Brother Gurunyei, may God bless you abundantly. Your generosity has reminded us that humanity still exists and that together, we are stronger.

Digital Boda is family.
Digital Boda is love.
Digital Boda is unity.
