Philip Kinyanjui and Margaret Njoroge had a deeply engaging and thought provoking conversation on KBC Coro FM’s Rwiga { Thũgũri Ya Andũ, }where we explored the complex realities of human trafficking, fraudulent recruitment, scams, safe migration, and exploitation.

Drawing from lived experience and survivor perspectives, we highlighted how trafficking does not always begin with violence. In many cases, it begins with a seemingly genuine job opportunity, a deceptive recruiter, a social media message, or a promise of a better future. What appears to be an opportunity can quickly become a pathway to exploitation.

The conversation went beyond raising awareness and focused on the need for stronger prevention mechanisms, accessible information on safe migration, survivor-centred responses, community vigilance, institutional accountability, and meaningful pathways to justice and recovery.
Philip Kinyanjui and Margaret Njoroge remain firmly committed to building stronger, safer, and more inclusive spaces where survivors and communities can organise, speak openly, challenge injustice, and demand accountability without fear or intimidation.

Survivor voices must not merely be heard they must inform policies, shape solutions, and influence the systems designed to protect people.
A deceptive promise can become a gateway to exploitation. Awareness is the first line of protection, and collective action is the catalyst for change.

We are thrilled to introduce Fauziah Muthoni Wanjiru, our dedicated Secretariat Member and Safeguarding Focal Point Person at Survivor Network Kenya (SNK)!

As a committed survivor leader and safeguarding advocate, Fauziah brings over a decade of hands-on experience in community mobilization, gender-based violence response, and anti-trafficking initiatives. In her vital role within the SNK leadership team, she ensures that all organizational engagements uphold the highest standards of safety, dignity, and trauma-informed accountability for all survivor members.

Fauziah’s work is driven by a deep vision: embedding survivor perspectives at the core of national and global policy. Her leadership has been instrumental in shaping Kenya’s Alliance 8.7 Pathfinder Roadmap alongside the Ministry of Labour, and she has amplified Kenyan survivor voices internationally, including presenting at the 19th Global Coordinating Group (GCG) meeting in Turin, Italy. Grounded in extensive expertise across safeguarding, trauma healing, paralegal support, and labor rights, she is a powerful force for systemic protection and survivor mentorship.

We are thrilled to introduce FiBi Chivatsi, a dedicated leader at Survivor Network Kenya (SNK)! 👋🏾

As a passionate advocate for human rights, FiBi has committed her life to supporting survivors of human trafficking, modern slavery, and child exploitation. In her vital role within the SNK team, she works tirelessly to empower vulnerable individuals through grassroots advocacy, protection, awareness creation, and direct linkage to essential support services.

FiBi’s work is driven by a deep vision: building a safer, more informed, and resilient society where vulnerable communities are safeguarded from harm. Through strategic community engagement and cross-sector partnerships, she actively collaborates with stakeholders to prevent exploitation and ensure survivors can rebuild their lives with true dignity and independence.

By coming together as a community, we can break the cycles of exploitation, ensure human rights are protected, and empower every survivor to rebuild their life with dignity.

Yesterday, our team member Fibi Chivasti represented Survivor Network Kenya (SNK) at a vital public participation forum on child labour held at Changamwe Social Hall.

During the session, Fibi introduced SNK to the community and shared our core mission: supporting survivors of human trafficking, modern slavery, and child exploitation through advocacy, awareness creation, empowerment, and protection.

Community engagement like this is essential to our mission. Safeguarding children and promoting their fundamental rights is a shared responsibility—one that requires all of us standing together. Thank you to everyone who participated and joined the conversation!

SNK had the opportunity to join a KCB English morning radio show ,discussion on human trafficking as part of our ongoing advocacy efforts.

Eileen Beryl and Njeri kamau shared about scam trafficking, child trafficking, migrant trafficking, and the reality that human trafficking is often hidden in plain sight.

It can happen through fake job offers, deceptive recruitment, exploitation in homes and workplaces, and other situations that many people do not immediately recognize as trafficking.

Awareness is one of the strongest tools we have for prevention. When communities understand the warning signs and know where to seek help, we can better protect children, migrants, and other vulnerable people from exploitation.

, Survivor Network Kenya (SNK) proudly participated in the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons commemoration held in Bungoma County under the theme, "Trapped Behind the Scam."

The event brought together government leaders, law enforcement agencies, civil society organizations, development partners, survivors, youth, and community members to strengthen collective efforts in preventing and combating human trafficking.

We were honoured to be joined by CPA Carren Achieng Angengo, alongside representatives from the County Government of Bungoma, the Counter Trafficking in Persons Secretariat (CTiP), the National Police Service, the Department of Children Services, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), the International Organization for Migration (IOM), and other partner organizations committed to ending human trafficking.

Representing SNK, we reaffirmed our commitment to survivor leadership, community awareness, prevention, protection, and advocating for justice for survivors of human trafficking.

We thank all organizers, partners, and participants for making the commemoration meaningful. Together, we can expose deception, protect the vulnerable, and build communities free from exploitation.
Together, our voices can end human trafficking.
