NOTICE OF DEADLINE EXTENSION

Extension of the Call for Pre-Qualification (FY2026–2028)

Global Ark Initiative (G*I) wishes to inform all interested applicants that the deadline for submission of applications under the Call for Pre-Qualification for FY2026–2028, which was announced on 9 June 2026, has been extended.

The initial submission deadline of 25 June 2026 has been moved to 5 July 2026 at 11:59 p.m. (EAT).

This extension is intended to provide prospective applicants with additional time to prepare and submit complete applications.

All other terms and requirements of the pre-qualification notice remain unchanged.

𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗲 𝟮𝟲, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 marks a significant milestone for Global Ark Initiative as we officially launch our 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗰 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲–𝟮𝟬𝟯𝟬, a roadmap that will guide our work over the next five years in building resilient communities through conservation, indigenous knowledge, climate action, and sustainable development.

Today, International Day for Biological Diversity 2026, G*I, G*I, Kenya, joins the world in celebrating the richness of life on Earth under the 2026 theme: “Acting Locally for Global Impact.”

As communities continue to face the effects of climate change, land degradation, deforestation, and biodiversity loss, collective local action remains essential in protecting ecosystems and securing livelihoods for future generations.

Through environmental conservation, ecosystem restoration, tree growing initiatives, community empowerment, and partnerships with local stakeholders, G*I Kenya remains committed to promoting sustainable coexistence between people and nature.

On this important day, we call upon communities, youth, women groups, institutions, and partners to work together in conserving biodiversity, restoring degraded landscapes, protecting pollinators, and promoting sustainable environmental practices.

Together, every local action counts toward a healthier planet and a more resilient future.

On 20th May 2026, Global Ark Initiative Kenya (G*I Kenya) joined the world in commemorating World Bee Day at the G*I Kenya Office and Demo Farm in Eldume, Ilchamus Ward, Baringo County. The event brought together a wide range of stakeholders including the 4K Club from local schools, women and youth groups showcasing exhibitions, Community-Based Organizations (CBOs), National Government Administrative Officers (NGAO), and officials from KEFRI, the Ministry of Agriculture (MOA), County Government representatives, KALRO.

The celebration created an important platform for awareness, learning, and collaboration on the protection of bees and pollinators, whose role remains critical in food production, biodiversity conservation, and environmental sustainability.

Speakers emphasized the important role bees play as pollinators and highlighted the growing threats affecting bee populations and honey production in Baringo County. Key concerns raised included the increasing rate of charcoal burning and environmental degradation, which continue to destroy natural vegetation and bee habitats. Concerns were also shared on the excessive use of agricultural sprays and chemicals, which are lowering both the quality and quantity of honey produced in the region.

Baringo honey, globally recognized for its unique quality and value, was noted as an important economic resource and the third major economic activity in the area after crop farming and livestock keeping. Stakeholders called for collective action to conserve forests, promote sustainable farming practices, and protect pollinators for future generations.

The event also featured exhibitions by women and youth groups, knowledge-sharing sessions, and tree planting activities aimed at strengthening environmental conservation efforts within the community.

G*I Kenya appreciates all partners, stakeholders, and community members who participated in making the World Bee Day 2026 celebration a success under the theme: “Bee Together for People and the Planet – A partnership that sustains us all.”
